There’s no airbending in pro bending because Tenzin is the only airbending master alive. Also fighting and violence directly go against airbender code which is why Tenzin called it barbaric.

I think its great that korra is a teenager in this instead of a preteen child like aang, so we kinda see her in the same age group that sokka and zuko were in and all the funny teenager problems that come with being that age lol. Also saw a post way back when about how aang and korra would have been better off being born in opposite times because aang would have the answers for all the philosophical problems that are happening while korra would have had no problem putting down fire lord ozai. Just somwthing to think about
