EARLY ACCESS: Legally Blonde FULL REACTION

POLL WINNER is here....

Reese Witherspoon as the effervescent Elle Woods, the film serves up a mix of vibrant humor, unexpected depth, and a powerful message about staying true to oneself. Elle, initially seen as the quintessential sorority girl immersed in fashion and all things pink, faces an unexpected breakup that prompts her to embark on a transformational journey. Her quest to prove herself as more than just a stereotype leads her to the prestigious Harvard Law School, defying all expectations.

The supporting cast shines as well. Luke Wilson's portrayal of Emmett, a fellow law student who recognizes Elle's potential, adds a genuine touch of romance to the story. Similarly, Jennifer Coolidge delivers scene-stealing comedic moments as Elle's quirky manicurist friend, Paulette.

Legally Blonde's lively atmosphere is complemented by a vibrant soundtrack and visually stunning aesthetics that mirror Elle's vibrant personality. The film ingeniously employs fashion as a visual metaphor for Elle's evolution, creating a multifaceted journey of personal growth.

While the film does engage in some light-hearted stereotypes for comedic effect, it's heartwarming celebration of individuality, sending a resounding message that pursuing one's dreams while embracing authenticity is a triumphant endeavor.

This was a good surprise. On to Legally Blonde 2.

my favourite movie of all time :) <3 so ready for this reaction!

Elle said she rather represent someone who is innocent in the beginning of the movie which is funny because that's what she does later on in the movie.

I think it's good to bring up the lawyer who tried to make a move on Elle, to ''offer'' her a prestigious place (as if she couldn't get there by herself). It slightly touches on harassment and misogyny in men dominated areas/jobs/positions. And it wasn't only Elle who experienced it, but also Vivian, who was always sent to get the coffee when Callahan asked for it (even though she was just as much an intern student as the men from her class). It's brought up very subtly in the movie but it's something that constantly happens in real life, still to this day.

Miss_CJ

Yes! I'm super excited to watch them see Barbie!

Bri

I dunno why, but this makes my so hype for you to react to Barbie. love how you're able to relate to Elle, and I love that she's a great role model

GillyBean

No way ! I love my life lolll

KarySky

I think that is on the list😁

So much fun to watch this with you! I was thrilled when I saw it was coming this week. I’ve seen the movie so many times and it’s great to see others introduced to it. True to the message, the movie is never what people expect. In addition to expecting Elle to be dumb, I’ve seen other reactors expect her to be mean and conceited. I guess that’s a stereotype we’ve been taught about sorority girls. I love that she’s so nice to everyone. She isn’t even suspicious of Vivian when she comes to Elle’s room. Even though everyone is treating her badly and underestimating her, she doesn’t do the same in return. And she doesn’t stereotype them the way they do to her. I’m so glad you enjoyed this. It was a great watch along!

Juley

This movie was hilarious. Loved it back when it came out and still enjoy it now.

Andrew Gamez

A feminist masterpiece of the age, love the watch

Anna

It was a good watch along with you guys. I didn't much enjoy this movie this time around as compared to when I watched this when it came out. Many jokes aren't as appropriate today as they were back then, especially the fatphobic ones. Still cute though, and I loved your comments :) You should react to Never been kissed with Drew Barrymore.

Elle is extremely smart. She got a 179 on the LSATS and the highest you can get Is a 180! Also had a 4.0. It really is a don’t judge a book by it’s cover kind of movie, love it! I’ve gotta hand it to Reese she did such a great Job! she really advocated for a lot of changes made to the movie that made it so much better. This movie is such a classic and really holds up. People love it so much because it’s not your typical plot. Even the ending was going to look a lot different with them ending up kissing. But instead they changed it to her giving a graduation speech. I really like that change as that’s not what the movie was about and it’s totally unexpected but refreshing.

This movie completely blind sided me when I watched it. I was a teenager visit family for the summer and they lived in a small coastal town that the movie theater only showed 2 movies. So it was either Legally Blond and some other unknown movie and so we picked legally blond reluctantly. It blew us all away. Absolute perfection 🥰 💞 so glad yall loved it ❤️

Love10 ❤️

I think you guys are right in your assumptions that this movie did well after the fact. I think it's practically solidified its place as a "classic". I was born in 2000, so I definitely wasn't seeing this movie in the theaters, and I don't even remember the first time I did see Legally Blonde--maybe they showed it on satalite TV. It's one of those movies for me now that has just always been there/existed in the background--everyone knew about it and everyone loved it. One of the biggest things that people have continued to talk about to this day is that if you really analyze this movie, its theme of "not judging a book by its cover" goes deeper than you might initally think. Elle was never "dumb", which Answer touched on a little bit. Sure, she might start out the show with shallow goals, ideals, and motivations, but she was always smart and capable. She stated that she has a 4.0--the highest GPA in her soroity. She is incredibly knowledgable about fashion and trends, seen when she shuts down the dress shop employee, and this helps demonstrate that she does in fact have the ability to care about details and have a resourecful memory on topics she studies and is passionate about. Which then translate into her efforts as a law student--she is a successful student, as we already know, she knows hwo to study and learn for her LSAT, and pass it, something that even students who's long time goal is law school don't even achieve. Then, she is able to apply her exntensive real world knowledge to make her self an incredibly resourceful and succesful law student and lawyer. Truly--Callahan wouldn't have won that case as we assume he would not have knowledge on women's hair care etc. I'll quit rambling, because I think you get my point. Elle was never dumb, and was perfectly capable of being a successful law student, even from the beginning, but no one ever expected it from her because its not where she had previously directed her efforts and because of the way she presented herself physically. It's an amazing movie IMO. Thank you so much for the reaction!

Jenna

What a nice surprise! I didn’t realize this was based on someone’s real life experiences, that makes it even better.

Ebony

RIP Bruiser/Moonie ❤️

Gunnar Rea

The Ol Bend and Snap lol. Though not in my genres of movies that I prefer, this is still one of my favorites, I rewatch it quiet often along with the second one. Linda was also Velma in the Live-Action Scooby Doo(That came out around the same time-ish) and Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed movies, which if ya'll haven't seen, definitely should go on the list of future watches, has Freddie Prinze Jr as Fred, Sarah Michelle Geller as Daphne, Linda as Velma, and Matthew Lilliard as Shaggy. They're one of the best LA-adaption movies, absolutely. Anyways, can't wait for Legally Blonde 2!

Anza

Loved that you guys enjoyed it! The character of David Kidney always reminded me of Eugene on TWD.
