He said he was saving her for a special moment...(paraphrased). What better time to take on the avatar then in a giant spectacle like the pro-bending championship?

And even when not cheating, that kind of thing happens IRL all the time to, feeling out what the refs are allowing that day

2023-08-07 21:14:35 +0000 UTCMy pet theory is that it was actually Amon who payed off the refs--it's still too early for him to take the Avatar's bending (like he said in e4), and what better way to make an entrance than to wrap his movement back around to oppressive benders than to guarantee a particular winner?
