And to those who didn't, we understand now. Albeit with a raised eyebrow. Nevertheless, let us pray that Netflix achieves an absolute masterpiece with their take on Airbender.

There's no mystery about what happened. Shyamalan insisted that the characters' names be pronounced correctly per their ethnic background. That's the thing that people miss. It's the cartoon that got the pronunciations wrong, insofar as not pronouncing the names as people from the actual real-world cultures presented by the series would. (The only thing that is weird about this is that Shyamalan was so damned insistent on proper ethnic pronunciation of names but failed so spectacularly at proper ethnic casting).

Looks like Aang's full name is 安昂 ( confirmed to appear in the episode "Tales of Ba Sing Se" at 15:27 - in the screen "The Tale of Aang". ). The pronunciation can be heard here : 🟦 https://translate.google.ca/?sl=zh-TW&tl=en&text=安昂 🟦 ( Click the speaker button on the left side to hear the original pronuncation ). Maybe what happened was the series referred to Aang by his family name ( the 1st character's sound ), and the movie maybe referred to him by his given name ( the 2nd character's sound ). But since Aang is extra special, his name might not adhere to usual conventions - and 安昂 could just be a unique name, Aang's own special name for being a special guy. UPDATE : I looked a bit more into this - apparently ( says Wikipedia ), buddhist monks are given special names, so maybe 安昂 is Aang's special buddhist monk name.

Animation is going to allow much more creativity and at a lower cost compared to live action with CGI. Second, sometimes a limited series or tv series is needed to allow room for character development and side quests. I don't understand Hollywood's obsession with live action movies.

I tried to give it a chance and while it was a bit boring, while the names were definitely annoying, I was hoping it would deliver something good. But I think the first time during the movie I started to dislike it was when I realised that Sokka wasn't being Sokka.

The Ocean Spirit used Aang's avatar spirit to transform himself into a giant monster. Same as when Roku used Aang's body to channel himself and destroy the fire temple back in book 1 midseason episode "spirit world" other note: (whispers) "terrible movie..."

2023-04-12 04:12:41 +0000 UTCAll I'll say about this, is I'm glad that Oak, and the whole crew really, understands how passionate fans can be about this stuff. If you look at past comments I've had on this channel, I've been critical about a lot of different things, most recently the mess that they made of The Last of Us. It's because of this stuff right here: people changing things to fit thwir vision or fit a political agenda or just because they have a soapbox to push their ideas under the guise of making a show based on a popular IP. It's the same reason why I've hated everything Marvel came out with after Endgame, and why I've been largely unimpressed with everything else, not to mention everything that DC has made. I couldn't stand the Witcher, Shadow and Bone got ruined, Game of Thrones was ruined, Rings of Power was never going to be good, and so on and so forth. If I won the lottery, it would be used almost exclusively to fund projects to adapt these works of art to film while staying as true to the source material as possible.

And then I found out that it was a crap adaptation. 😂 I know I have it somewhere on DVD if I took the time to search. Probably will just watch the YT cut when it drops though 🤭 I really like that you guys will react to anything though and share, even if it's a letdown or you just absolutely hate it. Lol I think it's important for reaction channels and I appreciate that. Can't wait for HTTYD 3!!

I remember paying to see this movie and almost walking out the theater, smh. I was so angry at M Night Shyamalan because all of the changes / "creative" choices were his. All I kept thinking was, how dare he destroy something that was so loved by the fans.

But, The Last Airbender took place in China and the places, actors, and culture was of Asia/Asians of Chinese descent , not Asians of Indian descent! For once I agree with Oak… that man was not uncle Iroh. M. Night Shyamalan used actors from his cultural heritage and he definitely didn’t follow OR adhere to the source material. This movie was awful to anyone who is an Avatar fans. Fire Lord Ozai, Sokka, Katera and all the rest just about were miscast. When it originally aired, I can’t tell you how angry I was at what they did to our beloved characters. This movie instilled almost the same ANGER IN THE VIEWERS as Game of Thrones! You know how was received! This movie was a close second! Y’all could’ve watched another 3 episodes of Invincible instead of wasting time and money on this crap!

This movie had a lot of unnecessary exposition, cringy acting, and Appa looked like he came out of some child's nightmare. The vfx, set design, and costumes weren't bad. The bending tho was lame. I enjoyed laughing at your reactions which made it ok. honestly Netflix has kept all the fans at bay and and haven't released so much as a final poster, either they're over there perfecting a masterpiece or they realize they butchered the wrong IP and are scrambling to fix it in post. Btw the NF show is 8 hour long episodes for book 1 and its an all Asian/ indigenous cast, so we will have to wait and see.

2023-04-11 21:13:34 +0000 UTC90% of the plot happens off screen and is replaced by voice over from Katara, this movie is the epitome of tell, don't show. The dialogue is awful. The casting is awful, they managed to misscast both ethnicities and character types completely. The bending is so painfully slow and unimpressive, and every single emotional beat from the series just falls completely flat, the only thing it makes you feel is bewilderment. As Quinn said, all fight scenes is just a 100 people standing around waiting for their turns, trying to look busy. Most of the time Katara and "Ung" just do Tai Chi by some water without a single drop moving. I think what makes me mad the most is how seriously it takes itself- everyone's facial expressions are so intense and dramatic, and that cliffhanger with Azula at the end just shows how they thought they made something SO amazing that they 100% make more of these. Also Oak saying " Is this the Fire Nation or ancient Rome????!" made me laugh out loud cause I said the same when """ Ozai """ walked down the hallway like he was Cesar wearing his best toga If you want a a full breakdown of what all sucks about this, go watch HelloFutureMe's "The Last Airbender is the Worst Film Ever Made — HERE'S WHY" I love movies, but this movie made me mad movies exist

We all were SO ECSTATIC to see this movie when it came out in theatres and ended up being very disappointed. I kept trying to keep an open mind, but lost hope around the part where, in the earthbender camp, it took a whole group of guys to move one tiny rock??? Some movies are so bad that you can laugh at them, but this one honestly is such a chore to sit through.

I only saw this when it first came out and was so ready to cringe through it with you guys (and definitely did), but surprisingly I ended up cutting it some slack along with Quinn. I actually appreciated Dev Patel here as Zuko (I know, hear me out)! There are a lot of bad/cheesy performances here, but I feel like he did the best he could with what he had and brought some real emotion. Loved that you guys watched the show and this reaction was worth rewatching the movie XD Thanks for the content!

After reading online that future movies would not be made and many fans were upset by the adaptation, I decided to check out the cartoon series thinking I would nor like a cartoon series for kids, but got hooked and realized it was much better than the movie. So now I don’t really like the movie anymore. I remember the director of this movie saying his plans for future movies was to make them even darker toned.

I'm thinking that watching this movie again will be MUCH more painful than going through all the pain and surgeries!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 So as much as I love watching movies with y'all, I think I'll pass on this one and move on to the others I've missed.
