EARLY ACCESS: How to Train Your Dragon FULL REACTION

Y'all did it again. Another fantastic recommendation. We always take a deep appreciation for the work that goes into the these animated films. Toothless was absolutely fantastic and really all the characters. The story is well-paced and well-executed and nice character chemistry. It's more than just a kid and a pet story, it's a coming-of-age story of an adolescent boy trying to find himself and finally be welcomed into adulthood. Well done! Looking forward to the next installment.

EARLY ACCESS: How to Train Your Dragon FULL REACTION

Comments

Damn boys! We are 2 for 2 on movie night. Catharsis with the Impossible, and now Oak talking to me about self-acceptance and asking people to not think they know whats under someone else's skin. It's been great therapy. The check is the mail. Now the hard question; what's next: Train Your Dragon 2, Train to Busan (I swear to god, it's right under this video when I searched for this video), or Tangled? If it's a 5 Answers for Oak, I should go Tangled. But, it's just about quarter to 3am and I should try to fall asleep. I'll watch Train Your Dragon 2 with you, but don't draw stuff on my face if I fall asleep before the end! G'night, ya meatheads

I wasn't preparing on having this be a movie to make me cry yet here I am all teary eyed and filled with so much joy at the same time. Easily one of the all time best animated movies I've ever seen and I've seen A LOT of animated movies. This isn't just a 5/5 movie for me it's a 6/5 lol. Gotta let my device charge up so I'll check the other 2 tomorrow, but man, what a movie.

I'm Batman

growing up I absolutely loved this movie as a kid, now as I am older I still love it to this day. It’s one of those movies where there isn’t a certain age suited for it, it’s just perfect for anyone to watch.

Great Reaction

This is one of my favourite animation movies of all times. It was great watching this with you ! And you NEED to watch this audition of toothless with Kit Harrington ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXCpc2Bcirs

KarySky

a dark, but fun fact, in the scene where Toothless takes Hiccup and Astrid to the nest, one of the other dragons that flies past the camera is carrying Gloria from Madagascar to sacrifice her to the Red Death.

Thank you very much for the support here Meeri! We greatly appreciate it 🤙

Badd Medicine

Had to join patreon for this one. I knew you guys would love it! In fact, I don't know anyone who has seen it and didn't. In my humble opinion the second one is even better, and my favourite too. I'm so excited to see what you think of it. I was looking forward to seeing what things Oak would pick up and wasn't disappointed.

Meeri p

I've watched this several times already and I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing it, it's THAT good. Plus, toothless is just so endearing! I can't wait for your reactions in part 2!

Bunnie

Thank you and thank you for the support Maya! We really appreciate it 🤙

Badd Medicine

cant wait for the other two movie reactions to come out! the best part of how to train your dragon trilogy is they really grow up with the audience and mature the characters perfectly. the second movie is just as solid as the firs, of course not as good but still holds up in my opinion and the third is a perfect way the end a trilogy , that most movie franchises fall short on having a solid ending. I always get so hyped watching your reactions on YouTube so decided to sign up for your patreon for extra content. much love from the bottom of Australia !!!

Maya

Oh i wasnt sure if they did or not, but good thing that you mentioned that

AyaaChann

☝️🤙🤙😁😁

loved Cinema Therapy's video on httyd!! but it does covers the other movies as well, in that same video, so i'd definitely rec watching the rest of the trilogy before looking into it,, bc spoilers :)

One of my favourite movies of all time. The story was amazing, the animation was amazing, the script and voice acting, but the music.. the score made the movie INFINITELY BETTER! I get teary whenever I hear test drive (the score when they fly). - I'm glad you liked it as well. There are so many small things I love, the intro and ending speech about berk. He changes the pets from downsides to upsides :) - The relationship with his father is so much more developed than stuff you see in even live-action movies. Usually they say how bad a relationship is, one fight, and then all fixed! In this short 90 minute movie, they showcased their relationship so well alongside all the other things the stuffed in. - The way that toothless lost his left tail wing and hiccup lost his left foot. They couldn't save all of each other. But it deepened their bond! Toothless could not fly without hiccup, but NOW they have become a part of each other (the saddle is fit only for hiccup and his foot)! - The animation was great, but there were like some beautiful shots! Like they animated the RIGHT THINGS. When he was falling into the fire, when he was flying with astrid, when he was staring at toothless. I could go on and on about how I love this film. I literally got patreon just cause I saw you watched this movie. I'm so glad you loved it. I wish I could hear more about your thoughts of the music during the movie, the second movie has some great music too and keeps the original theme as well! The second movie is actually one of the best movie sequels I've seen!! Thank you, and I'm glad you loved it!! :)))

Oh good! You'll see what I mean and I think you guys will love it :) Billy Connolly is the dad in it, so you definitely get comedy :)

SilverDoe🎔

It never occurred to me before rewatching this with you guys, but the dragon fight in the last episode of season 1 of House of the Dragon shares a lot of visual similarities with the final fight in this. I wonder if this inspired that a bit.

Xeph

I loved your reactions! I think it would be really helpfull to watch the movie channel "Cinema Therapy" on youtube. They also dive deep into the story of films and they have covered a lot of animations, including this one. They make you understand things better and see what you havnt seen before. It really made me understand the fathers character and his behavior more. The other 2 films are just as good as this one.

AyaaChann

I'm watching those reaction 50% bc of the movie/contentinteraction and 50% bc of oaks "the lessons of these movies"-speeches. I LOVE it.

Lirryk

Great reaction as usual guys This is a flawless movie and the next two are great follow ups so can’t wait

Gunnar

First time seeing it with you guys and it was amazing. Can’t wait to watch the other movies !!

L AH

i love this movie so much. i love how hiccup and his dad healed their relationship.

Tiara Diaz

by the way I don't know if you noticed but regarding the animation, every single dragon has their own style of fire. In the behind the scenes they show how they designed and created all the different types of dragons and their unique features including the fire. Like for a monstrous nightmare the dragon has some sort of kerosene gel on his scales which makes him able to put himself on fire for a bit. And instead of blasting fire, they spew it out. For the deadly nadder it's like burning magnesium. Toothless has ionized oxyacetylene flames, which are extremely hot so the fire turns blue. The two headed zippleback was nicely explained in the movie and is a really cool concept. There's a whole list of different types of flames for different dragons but the animation makes it so believable and distincts those various types from another amazingly!

Doriegom

this is like my favorite movie franchise of all time. I love the soundtrack, it's my comfort music and I've seen this movie like 30 times at least. Also there is a tv show with multiple seasons that take place between the first and second movies. The animation quality of the tv show doesn't reach the movies and especially the first two seasons are very much for kids but it's still really good and we get to see more of Toothless!! After watching the third movie I recommend you to watch the short movie 'homecoming', at least that one really deserves to be watched 😌

Doriegom

Thank you MJ for supporting us here! We appreciate it.

Badd Medicine

looking forward to the next one.

another unbelievable trilogy, you guys are enjoying peak right now!

Steven Clarke

best animated movie ever

Maya

I haven't seen this in so long. It was so fun watching it with you guys!!

Sarah

I love this movie and was so glad when you guys decided to react to it! One of my favorite parts of the movie is the musical score. When Hiccup and Toothless have their test flight scene is one of my favorite scenes because of the music. It's a combination of Hiccup's theme and Toothless's theme and it's a perfect score in my opinion. I highly recommend watching Sideways on Youtube, he has a video that perfectly sums up why this movie has an amazing score (but I wouldn't watch it until after you watch the sequels because it does contain a few spoilers!)

Sophie H.

I just saw the notice on YT that you posted and zipped right over. I’ve been so excited for this reaction I can’t even describe it 😆

MJ

Can't wait for the next two!

GraffitiTurtle

The first movie Gerard Butler was in where his character really stood out to me was 2003’s Timeline. I would highly recommend this movie for you guys to react to. One of my favorite life lessons in this movie was where Hiccup came to accept himself for who he is and stopped trying to be who he thought everyone else wanted him to be. I think the first step to loving yourself is accepting yourself. You can always strive to be the best version of yourself, but accepting the basis of who you are is the first step to finding contentment in life. Which can be difficult in a world where we are bombarded in entertainment and the media on what people consider desirable in addition to the pressures that parents, relatives, and people in our communities can also push with their expectations of us. And what a gift for Hiccup’s dad to come around to loving and accepting his son for who he is and ending his feelings of disappointment. 😎

Ginger

I'm pretty sure I saw this as a kid and never fully appreciated it. Now that I'm 24, this movie blows me away with how incredible it is. So glad you loved it and it's a really fun trilogy.

Ivan Rasmussen

Yes, there is so much musical detail that was put into this movie! Toothless and Hiccup both have their own musical theme played throughout the movie and during the test flight scene, they actually mix both of their themes together in harmony.

Rubix

There are several short films, like around 20 minutes, additionaly to this trilogy. Small stories like "Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon" , " Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury" , "How to Train Your Dragon: Homecoming". I think it would be great to see them as well, as addition to main 3. After you finish these of course.

Tetiana Revenko

Sooo glad that this is out today, really needed it. Was crying together with Oak. Aaand small suggestion, to make reaction to Raya and the last dragon. This one is not so wellknown , however anymation is great and lessons as well, saw already several times and can't stop rewatching hehe. Would be great to see you enjoying it as well.

Tetiana Revenko

Yesss thank you for watching it with me! I was gonna watch the trilogy again but I saw that you guys were gonna watch it so I waited to watch it with you guys instead!

Bunnie

This was so fun to watch -- thank you! I am so glad you're doing this triology (it's up there with LOTR as a favourite). I saw all these at the cinema and was reduced to tears each time. We have Norwegian Forest Cats and our late black girl was so like Toothless in some of her mannerisms. This series gets better and better and I am looking forward to the rest of your reactions. After you've watched this trilogy, it's worth checking out this humourous PR clip for HTTYD3 with Kit Harrington (John Snow) and Toothless: https://youtu.be/pXCpc2Bcirs If you want to see another great dragon movie, then I recommend DragonHeart from 1996. Dennis Quaid, Pete Postlethwaite, David Thewlis (aka Professor Lupin), Jason Isaacs (aka Lucius Malfoy), Sean Connery... It's so good and definitely worth looking out for. I'm less keen on the straight-to-DVD sequels so I recommend just staying with the magic of the first one. I still remember watching it in the cinema and crying with joy at the sight of Draco. As always, great reaction and thank you! :)

Heathwitch

Love this movie! No matter how many times I watch it, it never fails to make me laugh out loud. And many times throughout the movie I get the goosebumps, like then shot at the end with hiccup’s missing leg and toothless’ missing part of his tail as they are walking out of the hut. Chills. Can’t wait for the next two!

amanda

Ahhhhh!! Love this franchise so much. Keep an eye out in the credits of HTTYD: Hidden World! It was the 1st major picture credit (and at Dreamworks, no less!) for one of my film school friends & he worked on the VFX /animation 🎉 His name is Bryan McAdams 👏 Great reaction, y’all 🤘

Angelina

Boys please don’t worry abput the next 2 films, ive watched a lot of animated franchises from start to end and i can say without doubt that the how to train your dragon trilogy is one of the most perfect trilogies there is. All the films are great

calum1

It was great getting to revisit this one with you guys. I'm glad you liked it. This series is one fo my favorites, especially for the brave decisions that they make, like having Hiccup lose his leg at the end. The other movies also take some pretty big and daring risks, but I'll stop there to avoid spoilers. I can't wait till you watch the second one. It's my favorite of the three.

Marco Gutierrez

I'm glad you caught that he rocked backwards like that. Not a lot of people do. You can really feel the impact and regret he has over saying that, but he's also not about to take back what he said and appear weak.

Marco Gutierrez

This reminds me so much of ''Brave'' both have the same kinda animation vibe and I love both movies! Great reaction guys loved it. It for me, was never judge a book by its cover. I watched this with my son when it came out. I've not watched it since and I'm so glad I did.

SilverDoe🎔

yeess, thank u guys!

Isadora

This trilogy is one of my favorites. It never gets old when I do a re-watch and the stories are so good. The music is also phenomenal in these movies

Chase Gardner

just finished watching, and oDINS BEARD was it worth it!! cannot describe how much i enjoyed u guys' reaction to this, i was smiling all the way through. gotta admit i was a little nervous going in, if only bc this is one of my favorite movies (of all time) n really wanted u guys to like,, not hate it lol. this whole trilogy is amazing, and im so ready willing and able for u to watch the next one! as always, i absolutely adored the commentary at the end, always a joy listening to y'all's thoughts afterwards!! n as much as i love up and tangled, there's jus smth abt this movie that puts it higher for me,, i could rant abt why for years, be it the amazing soundtrack, animation, dialogue, the messages it sends n brings forward, etc. but i'll jus leave it at that :) quick side note on a scene thou, i really like how when stoick steps outside, after he went "ur not my son", we physically see him stumble/fall back as the pure weight of what he jus said crashes into him. does so much for his character ;) really looking forward to the next one, and if ur looking for other animated movies i think you'll all enjoy Inside Out, even more so for the message behind it.

Anything off of peacock would be a treat i'm sure* Even the "Flintstones Stone age smackdown"* Many fun animations out there from Hannah Barbera all the way to new realms like Ghibli. Seriously though your great mentalities would be amazing with adoption movies like Real steel or Instant Family aswell. Whatever come's, Thanks for what you do! For Us All!

Cojuancidence

love this series so much, the tv series is pretty good too, and takes place between film 1 and 2 and shows how they grow with dragons between the films and train while setting up the events of following films. 1st season. Riders of Berk, , Defenders of Berk, 2nd season, and 3rd, the longest season, Race to the Edge. But yeah, I have so many figures and the Funko Pops of all the dragon across the series. Just an absolute great universe/series.

Anza

I rly needed this today! You guys and Toothless made my evening :D Can't wait for the other 2 movies! Great reaction as always 🙌🏻
