I think there's one piece to this that you guys missed in the Ember Island Players episode and that was that the writers were making fun of the show. They completely skipped the Great Divide episode because they know that the fans didn't really like that episode, lol. They had Sokka say it wasn't clear whether Jet had died or not because it wasn't clear in the episode, lol. So I love the fact that they made fun of themselves! And I love that you guys enjoyed it so much! And I will say the play is so much better than the movie, lol!

2023-04-10 02:17:50 +0000 UTCIt's great that Zuko took her but IMO both Aang and Zuko didn't fully understand or consider the nuance of the situation at first, and were trying too hard to push her to one side. Aang to forgive and Zuko to get revenge. As we saw she did neither and there's a good chance she could've severely regretted killing him, so Aang and Zuko are kind of even for me on this situation.

2023-04-04 23:26:13 +0000 UTCI mean generally speaking, enemies to lovers is just having 2 people with a different goal, or different views, who don't get along because of preconceptions. They realize they didn't truly understand each other and end up seeing the good in the other. To say that it's a toxic trope is a bit far. What would be toxic is if the couple doesn't actually go through change. In this case, obviously, we see Zuko regret the things he's done and works hard to be forgiven and accepted. I definitely see the potential for a relationship as Katara has forgiven him, and she sees he's a different guy now, looking for a better future. But I get what you mean. I'm also happy with their friendship 🤷♀️

I don't think cartoons originally made for children should teach young women (or men for that matter) to be physically attracted to people who attack them with the intent to harm.

2023-03-28 02:26:10 +0000 UTCThere's a theory that Hama (the puppetmaster) was indirectly responsible for Kya's death. Hama used bloodbending to escape a fire nation prison and it's thought that that's been a huge fire nation secret (and it's also insinuated that the rest of the southern water benders were murdered in prison since we never hear from them or see them again). That's why they murdered Kya on the spot instead of taking her as a prisoner. They were afraid another southern water bender knew this technique and could escape or teach it to others. It could also explain Admiral Zhao's obsession with ridding the world of water benders (i.e. travelling to the buried library and researching how to do it - by killing the moon spirit). Wiping out the water benders from the world entirely means they'd never have to deal with bloodbenders.

2023-03-28 02:09:02 +0000 UTCThe Boiling Rock and the Firebending Masters are my favorite episodes of Book 3 (outside of the obvious: Day of Black Sun and Sozin's Comet). I'm glad the creators didn't make Zuko and Katara's relationship a romantic one. Their friendship was built on an artfully tough, but solid foundation. Zuko's friendship with each of the gAang is precious. Toph expressed an easy comfort with Zuko, allowing him to just be himself. Katara became a well of reassurance for him. Suki is the lighthearted friend who reminds Zuko not to take everything so seriously. Sokka is Zuko's Ace Boon Coon - always down for a good time and ready to have his back. While Aang is the understanding friend who just gets Zuko - and vice versa. We didn't have enough time with them together! Lol

2023-03-27 19:07:51 +0000 UTCI've always liked the idea of Zuko and Katara, because of the enemies to lovers trope that we see all the time in romance shows and movies. But I also like their friendship the most. How Zuko helped her get closure for her mother. When you think about it, only him was willing to help her and understood that desperate feeling that she felt...while Sokka and Aang were just telling her to let it go. But I guess Zuko already has Mai, who, even if she's not the best character, showed a lot of loyalty and bravery to help him out. Going against Azula was pretty big, and she earned a lot of respect from me there. I've never really shipped Katara and Aang together because I always sense a difference in their maturity. (Which makes sense because Aang is 12+100 and Katara is 14 and had to grow up quickly) To me, it often reminds me of a mother and her son rather than a couple. But since I like them both, I don't hate the idea of their pairing all that much either. Guess we'll have to see what happens!

Just like the obligatory beach episode that we saw earlier this season too. I'm glad Quinn saw the idea there and mentioned it.
