EARLY ACCESS: War for the Planet of the Apes FULL REACTION

This was a very enjoyable trilogy and didn't disappoint. Caesar was a fantastic character. Sad ending there for him.  Matt Reeves and Mark Bomback do an incredible job of getting you to care about the Apes and root for them as much as you would any human character. The CGI was really dang good in this one. We seen there is a 4th to come. Going to be interesting to see what those look like without Caesar.

What was your reaction and thought for the Trilogy?

The ending shot w/ the lake was Mt. St. Helens and Spirit lake, Wa area.. desert shots were shot in different locations in California. Most outdoor shots were filmed in Vancouver. and the fort etc were all built sets.. Steve Zahn said first time he saw the finished film, he cried at the end.

I couldn't tell whether you guys got a little confused or not but Ceasar only had two sons Blue Eyes and Cornelius. Rocket is the ape who in the first movie bullied Caesar in the sanctuary then became his right hand man.

I love this one, for me I can't decide if I like this one or Dawn more, lol. I thought it was a very gutsy move to kill Blue Eyes, they were really setting up his character in Dawn and to have him die so quickly in this I was just not expecting that. I thought for sure he was going to be the one to take over the leadership role after Caeser. Woody is so good in this, such a great villain. I absolutely love his big monologue with Caeser. I think for me what makes him frightening is the fact that he's not a hypocrite, he killed his own son and anyone else who got infected. There was no doubt if he had found Nova he would have killed her too without a second thought, a literal child. And what's crazy about that is they hadn't even given time to see if there could be a vaccine or some sort of cure for it! And also as we see with Nova yes she can't talk but she's not stupid, she expresses emotions and can communicate, she's not an animal like they claimed they were becoming, so instead of trying to figure it out they just resorted to killing. Even though it was hard to watch Caeser die and leave his son fatherless I think it was a proper ending for him and that shot of him just looking out and being at peace knowing his son and the apes were safe was so powerful. I think either Rocket or Maurice took over after him. And I'll say too for a PG-13 film they got away with some pretty brutal scenes. Like when the Donkey gorilla got shot right in the head after blasting Preacher. Yeah, I think everyone thought Preacher was going to change sides but nope, it completely went full circle from the beginning. It is so wild to me going back and re-watching Rise, knowing now where the story was going and watching young Caeser again, being so innocent. You never would have known he grew up in a home with humans.

i hate preacher still to this day lol

Makes sense to do.

Great reaction video as always! I hope some astronauts arrive in the 4th one given the teases in "Rise". One more thing, according to Prime Video general trivia, Bad Ape was added to expand the world and show that more apes changed like Caesar's apes. This makes me wonder how similar or different apes around the world are.......

Sarai

Didn't expect the end to hit like that

Bad ape 🧡 Nova is actually in the first set of planet of the apes film too, although much older. she's the only mute female human in their world too so it's nice they put that reference in there.

What a great reaction to an incredible trilogy 🔥 🔥🔥 This was a fantastic ride and I gotta agree that this one was a sucker punch at the end and now one of my fav films. I did some more research of ‘Kingdom’ and it’s supposed to be the entry into a whole new Sage of Caesar’s son Cornelius. And it’s being helmed by one of your favs: Wes Ball (the director of The Maze Runner) 👏 Should be really interesting to see where they go from here & thank y’all for doing such an awesome job with this trilogy 🤘

Angelina

I love that Oak is wearing a Twilight shirt. I need to go back and watch these with y'all. I think I only ever saw the first 2 and that was when they came out so I forgot most of it.

I looked it up. Their final destination at the end of the movie was filmed at Spirit Lake in Washington State. I just watched the original five movies on YouTube in the first half of the week and I just gotta say those old movies were dark! They felt darker to me than this trilogy. I hadn’t seen them since I was a kid so I also never realized how much social commentary were in those movies. Many plot holes in those movies, one plot hole being why humans couldn’t even make a sound or how they became so primitive minded, so nice to see them explain that in this movie. Caesar didn’t die in the original, but him dying in this definitely fits with the theme of the old movies. I liked this movie the best out of this trilogy, the first being my second favorite. I didn’t care for the second movie as much.

It was a blast going through these movies with you guys. I was always a huge fan of the first one, but I remember not liking the second one for some reason. After watching it again with you guys, I can only conclude I must not have been paying attention, because it was such a roller coaster of tension! This was the one that I never saw, but I liked it! I agree with Quinn though, I think it's a step down from the other two, but definitely an enjoyable one. I think it subverted some of my expectations very well.

Marco Gutierrez

someone want to explain to me why CGI apes dying actually brings tears to my eyes... especially the ending

Sam Harris

Now after seeing answer in the thumbnail like that , all I can hear is '✊️✊️ready willing and able' instead of 'apes together strong' 🤣.

I got major PTSD from this movie when I first seen it in the cinema. I was crying so hard after 20 minutes in. Then the ending just destroyed me - sat in the cinema after it ended wiping tears and snots away for half an hour 🤣 I've only managed to watch it twice since lol So glad use enjoyed these films!!
