EARLY ACCESS: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes FULL REACTION

Absolutely fantastic, emotional, full of tension film. Matt Reeves and crew did great job with this 2nd installment. Great cast Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Gary Oldman. Andy Serkis doing the motion cap, fantastic again! They did a great job of making one care for the Apes (some) in this one a little more. In the Dawn, apes are smarter, Andy's character Ceasar is already able to speak which makes things more interesting. Looking forward to the 3rd film.

Man rewatching this post "covid" makes it different.

Rewatching this reaction for the sheer emotion of today's 'war for planets' dropping , swear I've never recovered from that movie 😭

Shelley

Still in Editing. Looking for a Wednesday or Thursday drop.

When is the YouTube early access of this coming out? Not a fan of full reactions.

Space Crow

I live in SF and also lived in Marin County (the county across the golden gate). The ape colony is in Muir Woods in Marin County and the human colony is in San Francisco so the bridge separates them. From my recollection of growing up and living in the Bay, there is no gas station in the middle of the redwood forest lol especially a 76. There are some on the outskirts of the woods in the towns of course.

rachele

I feel no anxiety. Maybe because I saw the original movies and know who wins the war so no surprises for me. πŸ‘πŸ»

Ginger

Loved the skit with oak doing vamp face in the bathroom. Atleast we have that πŸ˜…

Absolutely LOVED this movie!! Great reaction y’all πŸ”₯ Was right along side you with that TENSION the entirety of the film 🀯 It really made you think of what it means to be β€œhuman” & humanity itself. Can’t wait to see the next one! 🀘 Oh! As far as β€œsequels” and stuff, I know there was a book/comic bridging the timeline from Rise to Dawn πŸ‘

In a zoo in Australia, one of the zoo keepers said the apes have the worst qualities of humans. Murder, rape and other things happen.

I think this film is fantastic, far better then Rise in my opinion. I actually saw this one before Rise, I can't remember why I didn't but I saw this at the theater and it was awesome on the big screen and I didn't have high expectations for it and I was blown away. And the good thing too I was able to follow what was going on very well, I wasn't lost from not seeing Rise first. The tension, the storytelling and the acting is so good from everyone. I love how you do sense this dread, so many people have gone through so much, you want everything to work out for both sides. And both sides have villains. Caeser is such a great character, it's so great watching how much more he developed as a leader. It makes sense that he would have more compassion for humans because he knows there's good humans out there, he was raised by some. I like that he learned that apes can be just a bad, it's not black and white, there is so much gray. I do love the bond that develops with Caeser and Malcolm. The whole movie I was waiting for him to show his true colors and was begging to not have a twist and Malcolm turn on him, I liked him a lot and didn't want to see that so I'm glad they kept him being a good man. Koba in my opinion is one of the best villains in cinema, he is so complex, you totally get why he hates humans so much, all he has seen is cruelty. All his scars are from humans, so he doesn't blindly hate them for no reason. He soon I think gets that taste of power and he ends up thriving in it for the first time. He is also terrifying, when he's pretending to be stupid, you are just waiting for him to do something. And every time he gave that stare you knew something bad was going to happen. The fact that he was able to turn Blue Eyes away from his father and then use his death to get him to follow him was so manipulative. What's so sad about what he did to Ash was he was a young ape, Blue Eye's best friend, they were pretty much teenagers. It was so brutal. Gary Oldman was fantastic as usual, he wasn't in it as much as I would have liked but man he delivers in the scenes that he's in. His speech is amazing and when he looks at those photos always gets me, he didn't say a word and you totally understand what he's feeling. And you can't blame him for blowing up the building, he hadn't see the good side of the apes, similar to Koba and he was going to make sure that the humans were safe. This is just a very good movie, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it! I'm so excited for War! Honestly it's hard to decide which one I like more this or that one!

Annie519

Im so glad to watch this with you guys, this is in my opinion the best trilogy ever just below the Lord of the Rings!

Yall need to release more BTS of making these background pics πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Shelley

Definitely!

Shelley

By the way Maurice is my absolute fave. I adore him.

Tanisha Jones

Ash was the ape Koba threw over the balcony. Ash is also the ape who was shot by Carver in the very beginning. He is the son of Rocket who was Caesars bully in the animal sanctuary the first movie Rise. Cool to see how Rocket went from bullying Caesar to following his lead and being one of his right hand apes.

Tanisha Jones

Great Reaction, Can't wait for the next one. Thank You.

Shirlene Wright

This was my fav out of the franchise. It was really amazing seeing how Caesar really became to be this big leader in the first movie, but to see him in his prime leadership was so incredible to watch. I think this is like my 20th time watching it and I’m so happy I got to watch alongside you guys reacting to it for the first time. What a great movie night.!!!!!!

Lily

This is my second time watching and i forgot their names while watching. I think they gave blue eyes the lacerations to help differentiate him from the crowd of apes. Koba was very distinct looking and he played a bigger part than Rocket so he was easy to remember.

Oulianor Timothee

Same I was wondering if some of the stuff was in this or the next movie

Oulianor Timothee

Maurice was a circus orangutan, so safe to say yeah, didn't see a good side to humans as well, lol. I love Maurice so much, was really upset thinking that Koba had took them out back in the theater, knew he was going to be trouble back in the last film. And yeah, so much tension in these movies, seeing how both humans and apes had the same parallels of trust them/dont trust them, and with Koba in the beginning, and Gary Oldmans character in the bed, that anger/rage/fear/revenge unfortunately won over in the end. Ceaser knew, despite how and why it started, and what he/they want, he's unfortunately going to have to finish this war to save his people, there won't be any forgiving or going back. just one more to go. (and yeah, music very much a callback to the music of the old POTA films. )

Anza

I loved this reaction!! Can't wait for next week's πŸ™ŒπŸ½ Just a couple things I wanted to clarify for you guys about the apes in the this film because I know its confusing sometimes to follow. Rocket (the loyal ape) is the ape from the first film that was bullying ceaser when he arrived at the sanctuary. Ash was his son who koba threw over the veranda. Ceasers wife is cornelia she actually was in the first film too you seen her name card on one of the cages in the ape sanctuary later taken by Gen Sync for experiments until ceaser freed them all. Ceasers sons are called blue eyes and little baby cornelius.

Shelley

My dad's not huge into movies but he likes the Planet of the Apes series, and when these came out it was kinda fun to be the reverse of when I was a kid and him taking me to see all the Prequel Trilogy Star Wars movies. Theyre pretty good movies and they have the main man Andy Serkis on them so you know they're going to be good!

Shane Kolaga

Understandable! Hope you enjoy this one with usπŸ€™

I was about to rewatch this a couple of weeks ago but then saw you were doing them, excited for this one, I sometimes mix what happens in each of them jumbled up. Keep up with the amazing reactions.
