2023-03-13 10:43:00 +0000 UTCI think the idea behind them going back to trash the party is that despite them having their therapy session on the beach and everything, they still don't know how to cope with those new feelings. I think the outlet they get from destroying things and "conquering" weaker people is what really helped seal all that progress in. That's how they've been taught to deal with things in the fire nation.

First he made the wall, and then the two trenches, and at that point the village was still untouched. Then he went into the avatar state to punch a hole on the other side to prevent the overflow, still saving the village. Once the second volcano boiled over, that's when Sozin came to help and I think they were managing it well, but the fumes became too much which is when they started running away. I think up until that point, the village was still fine. I could be wrong though.

At that point all the homes had been destroyed and everyone was off the island, so better to just let the volcano run its course and resettle somewhere else with your people. Iβm not sure I understand Rokuβs need to keep trying to stop it.

This episode gave me so much respect for Roku, some people give him flack but the man was compassionate, temperate, and resolute. He could have taken Sozin out in that moment but he showed honor and restraint. I didn't take his restraint as passivity either, he boldly and strongly confronted him only sparing his life, that's why Sozin didn't pull anything until that unfortunate opportunity arose decades later. Ruko may be my #1 Avatar Aang is a close 2nd.

I also love the little moment at the end where Toph asks if friendships can transcend lifetimes in a way that's sort of sad/hopeful, as if she's reflecting on the fact that some of them will be gone some day. It's a rare little moment of affection from her and it's so sweet!

2023-03-07 22:46:12 +0000 UTCThe beach ep. is one of the best because of two things. One: the Noble Crew were actually pretty lit as a friend group (fight me on that). Two: it showed how much Azula actually cared for her brother. Before you were always wondering when the other shoe would drop when it came to Azula, but this ep. solidified my opinion that Azula actually missed Zuko and enjoyed spending time with him again.
