Banger of an episode! Ellie was amazing this episode. The tension they had throughout was fantastic! Joel was very brutal!!! David was a very sinister villain in our opinion. Great to see Troy Baker! BANGER of an episode!

The first thing David does to Ellie after kidnapping her is strip her of her hat and coat and leave her to freeze in the kitchen. The first thing Joel does when he finds her is bundle her up in his coat to keep her warm, despite probably being cold himself. Shows you what a true dad would do!

Also Couldn't watch it, I am immensely afraid of needles ( in a medical type setting), I've passed out from getting a finger pricked at the drs when they wanted to check something quickly, lol, with my famous last words of "hey, that wasn't so bad" I am ready for the last episode, I hope its epically long. Also, my favorite line of the eps, by Joel. "It's ok. I believed him"

2023-03-07 20:57:13 +0000 UTCI watched a side-by-side breakdown of this episode next to the version of this story in the game, and man, it stays so close to the way things played out, right down to the dialogue, it's wild. I think they could have stretched the episode out another 20 or so minutes so that David's light switch turn from "hm, maybe he's a sympathetic character just trying to survive" to "oh no, he's unbelievably evil" wouldn't have felt so quick, but I get it and I'm not complaining. Also, I didn't even think about it until this rewatch, but David said he was a teacher before the apocalypse... and he has a thing for teenage girls, as we learn. Ew.

2023-03-07 14:22:41 +0000 UTCKids what did we learn from this episode? Don't wake your grumpy ol' dad from his nap (Granted he was napping for 3 days straight and is a bit extra cranky and grumpy). Joel was not happy to get up, but he did, and he took care of business! Jokes aside, one time when I was like 16 I woke up my dad from his nap, and he kind of jerked up and panicked and pushed me into the bedside table hard. After that, mum still doesn't let him watch TV in the bedroom unless it's nighttime :D He usually falls asleep on the couch now in the living-room. We both learned a hard lesson that day!

2023-03-07 11:26:34 +0000 UTCAbsolutely loved this episode and y'alls reactions. It was one of my favorite parts of the game as well. Loved to see Quinn call out the cannibals pretty early in the episode too, shut himself down and dave held strong. I will say that I did not expect to cry to this episode knowing the story they were going to tell, but that last line by Joel really swept me away in my emotions. As a girl, not gonna lie, with daddy issues, seeing Bella's performance in that scene knowing I've been in a similar headspace a time or two in my life as unfortunately many girls and woman do, being so submerged in the scene hearing him comfort her in the best fatherly way he could really squeezed my chest and brought out the tears in an instant. Pedro Pascal has a hold on me as Joel. 7/8 episodes I have cried now, and I am preparing for another next week. Can't wait to see y'alls reactions to the finale.

So interesting you brought up the fact that we saw the two perspectives on the little girl losing her dad by the hands of Joel. and what we saw through Ellie and Joel's journey in episode 6. This idea of having two different perspectives/sides becomes the main point in the second game and what defines Ellie's journey. I do think Craig Mazin is beginning to put that idea in our heads via his interpretation in the show. Great observation! Would love to see you guys play both games if possible in the future.
