We do have S&S on the list :)

Would yall react to 2020 Emma? (not the crappy 90s version). Its super cute, also an Austen classic and has a similar humor. Or Sense and Sensibility with Alan Rickman!

Paige Fraker

Wooooa now that you have watched this one, 'You've Got Mail' (1998) would be an incredible follow-up movie to watch...! One of the iconic films from the 90's, by equally iconic Nora Ephron!

Sarah : Oh! That sounds so cool and fun! I'm a bit jealous 😅 I even haven't read the books yet, but they are on my list!

Jennakas

Badd Medicine : That would be so good! Can't wait 😎

Jennakas

Thank you for both comments! We appreciate it all! Thank you! 🤜🤛🙏

Few little clarifications I thought you guys might like - Mrs. Bennett was referring to Charlotte as being plain. And that Jane would never admit it. She went on to say that her eldest daughter Lizzie is the beauty. (Those discussions sort of confused me as well when I first watched this.) The moment when you see Darcy flex his hand is one of the biggest romantic scenes in film. 🤣 Basically when he touched her, that was just his reaction. You know, when you touch skin with someone you're attracted to and you just "feel" it. That was like showing his emotion and attraction. And it focuses on his hand later on when she is at his house and she runs outside. When she leaves back to the inn it shows his hand close up again. That's like hinting at Darcy possibly wishing he could touch her again. And, I wasn't sure if this was clear to any of you but also when Lydia ran away as she did, if it became public knowledge it would be a Scandal which would ruin a family. And would ruin the other girls' reputations and prospects for marriage. It was a huge thing in those times. Even a hint of being alone with a man, or any small thing considered impropriety could ruin a woman and her family. You could be barred from attending events and snubbed in public etc. It was CRAZY. It's what also provides us with great drama in film and television now-days. 😆 Also, houses like Mr. Darcy's were open to public at times. You came round in your carriage and gave them your calling card and if the house was open, a servant would show you round the property and you would tip them afterwards. Anyways, hope that was informative! Lol I also am a HUGE reader/collector of historical romances and so I just love films like this and seeing reactions to them. (Although the novels I read have much more interacting and getting to know each other, as Oak didn't get with this. 🤣🤣) So thank you for reacting and sharing!

Sarah

I just finished watching and first - loved it! So fun! And second - I completely understand Oak's standpoints on this! It's a favorite film of mine and I always found it romantic and I loved the tension. I'm older now and I still enjoy it but I can totally get his viewpoint. Because the film doesn't show them interacting enough on a level of getting to know each other. It hints at it a little, maybe when she visited Darcy and his sister for dinner, etc. So those times had lots of opportunities to show more intimate interactions but instead those moments that could've happened they didn't include. So for some viewers the relationship can feel lacking. Whereas like her sister Jane and Bingley it does show them dance alot together and whatnot, although they didn't admit their feelings. So I totally understand! Even though I personally find it very romantic I also understand that we didn't see enough of them getting to know each other. I haven't read the book (I need to, I can't call myself a true fan otherwise lol) but I know it includes way more in the book. I absolutely loved your guys' reaction though! And I actually agree with you all on all of your points. EXCEPT saying Twilight is better. (As someone who loved Twilight when it dropped, I in no way hate Twilight. Lmao) Everything else though I agree. Twilight, as an adult, honestly comes off toxic in many ways. But I still enjoy watching it. 🤣 So yeah, I can get where you're coming from Oak and I'm totally not disappointed with the reaction. You guys are always honest and in a way where you're not being rude. I like that you also shared parts you enjoyed. Everyone is different so I don't expect everyone to like everything I do. I'm just happy that you guys are willing to watch any genre! As a movie fan I've never excluded any genre. Though I noticed that alot of men in my life did, especially when it came to romance or animated films. So it's wonderful to see you guys be open to watching things like this. I think being open-minded is so important. And you never know what amazing things you'll discover you love. So thank you guys for reacting! ❤

Sarah

Oh I don't mind at all! As long as you guys are being real I'm totally cool with any reaction. You could hate it and I'm totally fine 🤣🤣 I'll be watching tonight after work! ❤

Sarah

Hope you enjoy! Oak goes off the rails a bit 🤣

Badd Medicine

I may have totally subscribed because I saw P&P coming this week on your YouTube and I totally want to do a full watchalong with you guys! Lol

Sarah

I LOVE Bridgerton! As a Bookstagrammer I've gotten to attend live Zoom meetings with some of the cast prior to the release of each season alongside other fans/readers! I don't know how full-in you are with it if that's something you also was able to do but yeah, I saw your comment and was like YAY FELLOW BRIDGERTON FAN! lol

Sarah

Love Blind Wave. We can see what we can do :)

There are so many more things in the book! A lot more conversation. During this time period, it wasn’t proper for a woman and a man to be alone together if they were unmarried, so even walks were chaperoned or done in group settings. But the conversation was where the relationship developed. I’ve read the book so many times and honestly I love this version but there’s a 6 hour version with Colin Firth that is phenomenal and you get so much more of the story. This time period is definitely much different and I disagree with a lot of the ways in which things were done but this was not a traditional marriage. He broke tradition and expectations by marrying her. It’s a beautiful story and much more appreciated when you read the book. Fun story time: when I was in English honors 4 in my junior year of high school, this was our assigned summer reading (spoiler, I didn’t have to read it lol) and we played a jeopardy review game. There were 4 groups. The average points the other 3 groups had were around 400-500. My group had 2800 points😂 I’m so glad y’all watched this one! Y’all should watch Sense and Sensibility (Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman!!) and Persuasion (2007 version) are both based on Jane Austen novels and they don’t disappoint! Fantastic movies.

Anna Moore

Loved the reaction! You guys are so much fun. A little background information: Jane Austen wrote this novel in 1813. I love the movie but with the critique about Darcy and Lizzie, quite a bit was left out. In the book they do actually go on what that time period considered “dates”, which is why Lady Katherine had shown up with the accusations based on the rumors she had heard. It was all because of how much time they were spending together. Love the movie but I do feel like those who aren’t familiar with the original work, are missing out on that relationship building.

Crystal Kugelman

I would love to see your reaction to Bridgerton. It's so much like this, but in my opinion it's better. It's a short series tho so takes a bit more time to watch. But Blind Wave watched it and they're bunch of guys like you 😄 They got so hooked 😂 Anyways, keep up the good work! I've been so entertained by you!

Jennakas

So it's like my ac drain line!? I wish my drain line was as efficient

Sarah.the.clumsy

haha... gotta keep it real right? lol

Badd Medicine

This reaction is the first I've ever seen of Pride and Prejudice (I guess Jane Austen just missed me when I was growing up!), and it's so different seeing Matthew McFayden as Mr. Darcy when all I know him from is Succession (which he's freaking amazing in).

Jeff K

this was all I could find about the fountains: “Until the late 19th century most fountains operated by gravity, and needed a source of water higher than the fountain, such as a reservoir or aqueduct, to make the water flow or jet into the air.”

Tessa M

Yes I completely agree!

Tessa M

Haha - I recommended they watch that one after they posted the full reaction last week. Fingers crossed they do! That movie was so much better than it had any right to be.

Jeff K

I always love all your practical observations in your reactions. I'm always thinking those things too. Look at those hedges! What a tree! How do the fountains work? Lol

Sarah.the.clumsy

Mason, when you asked if the movie was meant to have comedy I have to answer yes. Especially when it comes to Mr.Collins who's described as ridiculous and full of himself and his new position. In the book, Jane Austen's writing is very sarcastic and many moments are meant to be seen as risible. Of course, it's a sort of 'fancy' humor but I think the movie did a great job at highlighting the comedy and sarcasm. Although, I find Elizabeth is a bit more forward with it in the movie.

Miss_CJ

I prefer Pride & Prejudice + Zombies 😂❤ Matt Smith is my favorite Mr. Colins!
