EARLY ACCESS: Last of Us 1x6 FULL REACTION

Another fantastic episode! This show just keeps hitting you with emotion. Love it! We finally get a reunion. But, with that reunion came some hard truths. We see a very vulnerable Joel which he delivered a truth of self criticism. But he shouldn't doubt himself that hard.  And that ending... wild!

Thank you Oak! The "shouldn't be hard to miss" thing bothered me for like 30 minutes after that! Haha! Glad I wasn't the only one. :)

Thanks for introducing me to "The Last of Us"! At first, I was not going to watch it, but seeing Badd Medicine love it in the descriptions, was part of why I decided to try it. ( The other part was noticing another youtuber mention gay husbands Bill and Frank in episode 1x3 "Long, Long Time", which was great to see ). 🟢 Episode 1x6 "Kin" is also great. In the podcast Druckmann/Mazin described Joel's giving Ellie a choice, as a "cop out" and "doing himself a favor" - which I did not expect. But I still really like how the episode showed a story where, it was less important for the adult to decide what is best for the child - and that it was more important for the adult to help the child in the way the child asks for and desires ( that's my interpretation, at least ).

That's a bit of a cop out. For starters, the original comment is praising them for supposedly copying the game. I don't see you criticizing them for that, but of course you wouldn't because they actually agree with you. The fact is that everyhrign this happens in the game happens for a reason. It serves a purpose. All of these events occur to further pull Joel and Ellie closer together. So far we haven't seen a convincing reason for them to be as close as they are. They're *telling* us that they're close, they're not *showing* us that they're close. It fails because they're skipping all of the hardships that bring them closer together in the interest of setting things up for last of us 2 stuff in the hopes that somehow that's going to fix their mistake.

They also skipped past an infected fight that occurs in the university which would be the second encounter with a bloater but i guess their saving up for something big later

@Marco If you'd like it to be like the game, just go back and enjoy the perfection of the game. No one is withholding you from enjoying the original story.

This episode 6 was excellent episode 3 and episode 6 are my favorite but this is my favorite Pedro Pascal as Joel episode and his scenes with belle Ramsey Ellie are just phenomenal/cute.

We appreciate the honesty 🤙🤙🤙

Yeah sorry guys, I just have to disagree. For me, the episodes just get worse and worse as they go. It's like Druckman just hates all of the good writing that he did when he was younger, despite that writing being what gave him success. Either that or he just keeps trying to pave the way for future stuff from the second game.

Marco Gutierrez

How exactly was any of this like the game? Especially the second half. They skipped the entire college exploration. It's supposed to basically be Clicker City and that just doesn't exist. Not to mention the actual fight that they get into to get out of the research lab, leading to Joel falling onto rebar. Here, he somehow gets a bat handle in him and then decides to pull it out like a dumbass instead of leaving it in to slow the bleeding until he can cauterize and dress the injury. It makes no freaking sense at all.

Show is fantastic. The bar is set pretty high and we have 3 episodes left.

This show just keeps on knocking it out of the park. Joel's vulnerability was so real in this episode and works on so many levels. He's been trying in vain to keep himself closed off from Ellie, not only as self preservation but because it would feel like a betrayal to Sarah in his mind. (I think that's partially why he's so pissed at Tommy because he feels like Tommy is betraying Joel's loss, while also being unbearably jealous). Nothing could replace Sarah to him and he's angry at himself for getting close to Ellie and opening himself up to the possibility of that kind of pain again, but he just can't help it. And now the sheer terror of trying to protect another person you love in this world is with him constantly (even in his sleep) and it's making him sick. He's panicked and thinks logically that he should leave but he can't do it, he needs her too. He's all in it now. God this show is good!

That is awesome! Can't wait to listen to the song later today I'll be checking out that pod soon. 🤙

Badd Medicine

Lol... I'm sure they found a way to do so to all of us

Badd Medicine

I'll have to check that out

The entire, like, second half of the episode I was just thinking, "Holy shit, this is like word for word, beat for beat exactly like the game." Obviously, if they had decided to change That Scene, fans of the game would have rioted.

Dave, you mentioned the song at the end. I listened to the podcast of this episode and the song was actually rewritten and recorded by the daughter of Craig Mazin. His 18 year old daughter did that for the show. Craig also refers to Bella Ramsey as his 2nd daughter (she's 19) due to all the filming and such. Thought you might like that little funfact.

This episode was such an emotional rollercoaster. My anxiety was up and I'M SO TIRED OF BEING STRESSED LOL. But I wholly agree with everything Oak said about TWD and it was so sweet finally seeing more emotion come from Joel and Ellie's breakdown making us realize she's really just so young with so much on her shoulders. I can't wait for Episode 7! I can just imagine the writers thinking "How can we traumatize everyone in this episode?" every time.
