EARLY ACCESS: Glass Onion A Knives Out Mystery FULL REACTION

Folks, this was very entertaining and fun! This was a fantastic cast. The location was great. Like the first installment, this was very intriguing, energetic and mysterious. Throughout the entire movie, you are trying to find last puzzle piece to complete it all in your mind. The pacing of the story was spot on, immersing you deep into each character’s backstory where you can see their goals and malevolent intentions.

What did you think? Will you check out the 3rd installment?

EARLY ACCESS: Glass Onion A Knives Out Mystery FULL REACTION

Comments

Yeah, that was my thought as well. I caught almost every little hint and misdirection they were throwing at us, and if I didn't know the solution of the mystery from the start then it's only because we hadn't been provided the full information yet. Still, despite its predictability, it was structured incredibly well and the story was very compelling.

Marco Gutierrez

I don't think Norton knew it was the sister. He was not that smart. I think he thought she managed to escape the car and was aware of what he did. He looked shocked when he saw her. :D

Colleen Morgan

Cassandra was also a prophet who spoke the truth, but nobody ever listened to her, and so the Trojan horse worked. By the time anyone believed her it was too late for them to do anything about the enemy in their midst.

Mister_Momus

Yup. We didn't think of that at all lol. Totally missed it.

Steven Sondheim also passed recently.

Well said here

Badd Medicine

Yep, I love that. Everything about Miles makes him super sus, and a classic red herring. The red herring is never the one who did it… except here, it was the red herring all along.

Jeff K

Guys, the closing shot on Janel Monae was a take on the Mona Lisa…. same pose…same look!

Grandma’s4GreatReacts

The guy who helped with the music part of the puzzle is Yo Yo Ma.

Grandma’s4GreatReacts

loved watching this one with you! I've seen a lot of criticisms about this one being too predictable but I think that is what makes it good. After Knives Out, you'd expect another crazy mystery with twists and turns (like Benoit said in his final speech) but he subverted your expectations by doing the obvious. It's something you don't fully expect. Plus the acting is great, the setting is so cool, and it's great on a rewatch!

Shelby Gentry

Fair criticism here🤙

As a couple others said, the first time I watched this I didn't enjoy it as much as Knives Out, though I still liked it. I've now watched it 3 times and rate it on par with Knives Out. I think the biggest flaw of this movie is that it benefits too much from the rewatches. Which makes the first watch a little lackluster compared to Knives Out. The idea that this mystery is hard to solve because of how stupid it is really is more genius than it first seems, and a lot of that is conveyed through lines that would never be noticed the first time watching.

Xeph

Yep, you’re right. It’s been awhile for me too; she has a twin brother… named Helenus. Got the two mixed up in my memory.

Jeff K

I haven't brushed up on my Greek mythology in a long time, but I'm pretty sure Helen of Troy and Cassandra aren't sisters. Cassandra is Hector and Paris sister. And Helen's sister-in-law then, after she is married to Paris.

Rune Kristensen

First time watching it, I liked it less than the first one. Second and third time around, it's actually a nice follow-up from the first one. A lot of twists and turns, and great characters ! Also, it's always nice to have the 4 of you for a reaction !!

L AH

Much appreciated and you also have a great weekend.

Badd Medicine

Fair criticism 🤙

Badd Medicine

Yeah... That's our bad 🤜🤛

This was a blast watching with y’all for the first time! Have a TREMENDOUS long weekend! Keep being awesome 🤘

I respectfully disagree Oak..Remember he (Norton’s character) was a Dufus…he didn’t know it was the sister. He thought the one he killed. wasn’t dead…he was shocked and scared… he didn’t know…

Grandma’s4GreatReacts

Knives out is a 4.9/5 and Glass Onion is probably a 3/5. It just wasn't as satisfying as Knives out and imo, it was more silly. It was great watching with you guys, though.

Culper (Lukas)

Can’t talk over the dialogue guys…missing the clues!

Grandma’s4GreatReacts

It really is fun to watch after you already know what happens. Like, one example, you can clearly see Duke’s phone in Miles’s pocket after he takes it. You just don’t really pay attention to it because someone having a phone in their pocket isn’t something that jumps out, until you remember after the fact Miles doesn’t own a cell phone.

Jeff K

I watched a video yesterday (on the channel Pillar of Garbage, about how Helen is the only real disruptor on the island) that broke that all down and made another connection I thought was cool: the puzzle box is essentially a stand in for the Gordian knot. For those unfamiliar, the Gordian knot was a knot so intricate that it couldn’t be undone. It was said whoever was able to undo it would rule all of Asia. After years, Alexander the Great walked up to this incredibly complex thing that had stifled people for years… and just took out his sword and cut it. The puzzle box is super intricate… and then Helen just walks up to it with a hammer and smashes it open. Taking the simple and direct approach to solving a perplexing dilemma. Additionally: in Greek mythology, Helen of Troy had a twin sister named… Cassandra. Cassandra was killed, and Helen brought down an empire. Given how particular and careful Rian Johnson is with his writing, it’s not a coincidence that this movie takes place in Greece.

Jeff K

And don’t forget the shout out to the amazing Angela Lansbury who passed away just three months ago. ❤️ This movie was more fun to watch the second time and I loved seeing you guys pick up on clues I originally missed, even if you weren’t able to connect those clues right away. 😎

Ginger

In the last scene, Helen mirrors Miles whole speech about what he thinks "disruption" is. First you break the little things, and people will cheer you on because they wanted them broken anyways: Helen breaks the glass figurines, and the others are cheering her along and even joining in because they're pissed at Miles. Then you keep going until everyone is telling you to stop: Once she starts setting things on fire, they are all telling her to stop and saying it's enough. Then you break the big thing, that no one wants you to break: and she torches the Mona Lisa.

Rune Kristensen

Cool little detail, but at the end when Helen looks at the camera for the final shot, she does the half-smile like the Mona Lisa! (Quote from the movie: "You don't know what emotion the Mona Lisa is conveying, is she happy? is she sad?")

Lani Meneses

Oh man one more I just noticed while watching: they show Blanc's watch, and it's an Omega. Omega is the watch brand that James Bond wears. I love that little nod.

Jeff K

Trust me its a cracker and so under appreciated

calum1

One thing I didn't even realize until the third time watching: if you notice, in the very final shot of the movie, Helen is sitting posed exactly like the Mona Lisa. The attention to detail is just nuts.

Jeff K

I just remembered someone mentioned in the Knives Out reaction that you guys should check out Hamilton since they talk about it in the movie, but now you really need to since Leslie Odom, the actor who plays Lionel in this one, played Aaron Burr (and won a Tony Award for his performance) in Hamilton.

Jeff K

That's a good point. The rewatchs are still valuable almost every time.

Badd Medicine

One of the things I appreciate about both this and Knives Out is the rewatch value they both have. It’s fun to go back and see all of the clues and little hints and references you didn’t notice initially. I’ve watched this a few times already and have noticed new things every time.

Jeff K

It was very entertaining. Could be predictable on some spots. But very good overall.

Badd Medicine

this is my first time watching as well, I hope it doesn’t disappoint! the first is one of my favorite movies, but i trust your judgment.

stephanie

Haven't heard of that one

Badd Medicine

😁🤘

Badd Medicine

Been waiting for this one, and I'm curious about your thoughts on it.

Curtis Rice
