Tough family dynamics here too. We didn't see much of the house in this one. Definity more character advancement. So far its been awesome. Looking forward to more.

One thing I noticed is that in the beginning of the episode, when the guy comes to Shirley with the box of his mother's photos, it's the same purple box that she buried the kitten in when she was a child. That's why should just stood there looking at it. This show is so good with the little details and I pick up on things with every rewatch. Can't wait for the next episode!

I'm sure you've realized by now that Shirley's actress played Edward's mom in Twilight and I found it a cool Easter egg that they mentioned her husband in another movie.

2022-12-27 22:51:15 +0000 UTCI'm not sure if you guys caught it or not but when Shirley is sitting in her office looking at Nells wedding picture she walks past her forever home and the porch light starts to blink twice which was the rule of their house that its time to come home. There are tons of hidden meanings within the show that it actually took me watching this at least 5 times and watching several easter egg videos to finally catch on to all of them. I encourage all of you to re-watch each episode on a bigger screen with all the lights off to notice certain things. This show has exceptional story telling, the cinematography is amazing, the child actors are fantastic along with the adult actors. Moving forward you guys may notice a couple different themes with each child and how they are processing what all happened in the house and the things that are happening afterwards. We all grief in different ways. Can't wait to continue on this journey once again and maybe find more things that I may of missed. <3

This show is so unique and impactful, all scenes and dialogue are intentional to convey a specifc feeling and meaning in a realistic and powerful way. I agree this episodse with Shilery dealing with the body is a lot to watch but I also lvoe it for that very reason. All questions will be answered do not fret hahaha. Glad you guys are enjoying it!

2022-12-26 17:58:42 +0000 UTCI'm with Diamond Dave on this one. I think they had to show Shirley working on her sister's corpse because it just wouldn't have worked if they just implied it. I think it served two purposes 1) Make Shirley process all the trauma/experiences she had around death: her kittens dying one by one, the bug coming out of the mouth, her mom dying ... I also liked how everyone viewed it as something odd and crazy to do, but at the end of the day, who are they to judge how one deals with grief, especially if no one is getting hurt. 2) Confront people with their pre-conceived ideas of what a mortician job is like. I think most people would have Oak's reaction, especially if you add the fact that she's working on her loved one, but it is ultimately a beautiful and thoughtful process. Shirley is basically giving Nell a second life after death. Graphically showing us the process was cathartic for the character but also for us the audience (at least for me). Shirley wanted to pay homage to her sister but it also makes us realize that a profession that most people would find gross or unsettling is actually quite beautiful in the end if you care enough π
