Also Aang very nonchalantly mentions how he came up with his air scooter trick to the other young Air Nomads. This really means alot more. Notice none of the kids but Aang have their tattoos, the Nomads only earn their ink after having mastered air bending. In order to be accepted as a master you need to create your own air bending technique. Therefore Aang became a master airbender when he invented his Air Scooter at a very young age.

When I was watching Aang playing with all his old friends and I realized that all those poor airbenders were murdered by fire benders. Even poor Jinju never stood a chance. And the literal child abuse the the Fire Lord did to his own son. Even then Zuko still wanted to make his father proud. This show never ceases to amaze me with it's deeper meanings and I am beyond ready, willing, and able to continue this journey with you guys!

2022-12-13 20:11:21 +0000 UTCEpisode 12 is always a very good episode. You slowly get introduced to the the deeper stories in this show. Im actually suprised you guys didnt mention Zuko's backstory. Its a pretty big deal. Some people call episode 11 'the only filler episode in Avatar'. But i actually disagree and im glad you saw why they made that episode. These are small things Aang has to learn as the Avatar.

2022-12-13 16:20:48 +0000 UTCWhat did you guys think of the Zuko storyline? I think the series does such a good job of making sure he's not just the mustache- twirling bad guy. The reason he is trying to capture the Avatar isn't that he hates peace. But because at the end of the day all he really wants is "Family" and his home. Yet because his own father is the one that burnt his face and exiled him from his home and family. There is a complexity to his motives compared to just I must capture the Avatar....just because. It's also cool because both Aang and Zuko are two kids that lost everything they knew and are searching to gain a version of it back.

Even if they are the antagonists they are still likable and there are still valuable lessons to learn, character development and deeper meaning behind their actions. Learning about Zuko's past really helps understand his obsession with the Avatar; to regain his honor. The fact that Aang can bring hope even to Zuko in some way is very fascinating.
