Rich is completely right about Dipper's apology just parroting the feedback he received and not meaning it. The podcast episode he refers to where they talk about the controversy more in-depth starts with him blaming the social media manager, and his co-host Meatball. However, things kind of backfired when Dipper lied about Meatball not supporting his during this time, and then Meatball exposed him for throwing fuel on the firestorm after Meatball warned Dipper not to.
