Patreon updated billing...
Added 2022-09-26 18:50:18 +0000 UTCHello folks,
Just wanted to get feedback from everyone. Patreon just rolled out subscription based billing. This will help eliminate the double charging at the end of the month for future patrons. We haven't made the switch yet. It is a permeant switch if made. We will make the change if you think its the better option. Below are the details from Patreon.
- New patrons are charged when they join and monthly on that same date, instead of on the 1st of each month. For example, a patron who signs up on April 12 is charged again on May 12. Patrons will see their next charge date at checkout and in their Active Memberships tab.
- Nothing changes for your existing patrons. They’re still charged on the 1st of each month.
Let us know your thoughts.
Thank you,
Badd Medicine

As long as you can change the due date. I like all my stuff being charged on the first, and it's nearly a dealbreaker if the service can't change it, coz then it's like.. Money management is a major deal and when you wanna have everything charged on the 1st but some things are just like "we can't do it" so they force random charges throughout the month it's just eh. I can't believe they don't prorate it.

2022-09-27 23:48:49 +0000 UTCIt really is mad how Patreon is only now fixing this, the double charging isn't the most convenient. I'm good though, I'm at every first and was only ever charged twice the first time I subbed.

2022-09-27 22:53:05 +0000 UTCFinally. I remember when I first joined patreon, I didn't realize payments were always done on the first so literally 2 days after signing up for the first person, I got charged again and was mad. This is why if I find new reactors I alwyas wait till the first to join. This will be so nice going forward if all creators do this.

2022-09-26 20:22:23 +0000 UTCif it doesn’t effect y’all at all i say go for it! way back when i had originally subscribed, i did on like the 26th of a month and then got immediately charged days later on the 1st for the following month. i think it would be nice to avoid that for future subscribers! :)

2022-09-26 18:59:29 +0000 UTCYes, definitely go for it! As well as it’s more "fair" for everyone, it also establishes a sense of trust between the creator and the audience as well, because some channels have kind of abused the system by purposely waiting until the next month to post the last episode of a show or the final movie in a series, just to get an extra month payment. Not you guys!! But still, you can’t be accused of it with the new arrangement

2022-09-26 18:58:47 +0000 UTCI think it's fair to be charged on the day we've suscribed and avoid a double charge. I wonder if it has an impact on the creators' side though? Not sure how patreon works but if the payout depends on a threshold, I think it should be all good on both sides.

2022-09-26 18:55:00 +0000 UTCI have no problem with it. Especially since it doesn't change anything for me. It's nice having everything come out the same day

2022-09-26 18:53:38 +0000 UTCI think it's a great change for new patterns, and doesn't affect current ones at all. I say go for it!
