EARLY ACCESS: The Maze Runner FULL REACTION

Wow... Once again, you all have not disappointed with a recommendation! We are really impressed with this first installment! It was great that the movie kept you guess. The action gripped you from the start. Really looking forward to the second film.

Also, we are starting to put these on YouTube more so than Vimeo. Let us know if the syncing in the beginning is not manageable.

EARLY ACCESS: The Maze Runner FULL REACTION

Comments

This one really kept my interest when I first watched it. Trying to figure out what the heck was going on and what was outside of the maze. Lol Doing the full watchalong now for this one, can't wait! Haven't seen these in a long time.

Sarah

I saw this movie a long time ago, but never saw the sequels. I enjoyed it! On to the next!

KarySky

They did great with Thomas

Badd Medicine

I love that you learn all the information with Thomas. They did a great job keeping you sucked in

Matthew Elsenpeter

These are my favorite books and the movies are fantastic!! I believe the director Wes Ball, this was his first major film that he ever directed. He did and great job. Loved the reaction and your input from you guys

Matthew Elsenpeter

Really looking forward to number 2

Badd Medicine

you are correct that this movie “slipped through the cracks” or wasn’t as well known. however it was very big to the young adult book/reading community! the books were so popular and read by everyone i knew! glad you enjoyed the movie cant wait for the next one

Keep the tidbits coming

Badd Medicine

In the book, there are beetle blades all over the place. They are small mechanical creatures that the boys know the creators are using to spy on them. In the book, all four gates open every day and there are 8 runners who run the same section each day, mapping it. They discover during the book that layering the maps from each day reveals a letter and they discover a six word code they must use to exit the maze through the griever hole. The griever hole is located off a cliff in section 8 of the maze, hidden by a hologram. Originally a group of boys, not just 1 boy, was sent up to start the experiment. Teresa was in a coma for about a week after coming up and she and Thomas could communicate telepathically with each other. In the book, Thomas knew his name from the start. There is a homestead, a large building where the sick are treated and the council meets and the boys hid in when the grievers started attacking at night. Boys were stung all the time and they had a big supply of antidotes. Thomas did not get along well with Alby in the book. Alby remembered enough after being stung that he did not want to escape, saying things were worse before the maze. The sky in the maze was actually a ceiling and not the real sky, which they discovered when the end started and the sky was nothing more than a gray ceiling. Their jail was a metal building the grievers could not penetrate. Alby sacrificed his life to the grievers as a group of boys near the end tried to escape through the grievers hole. Gally was taken by a griever and presumed dead until he showed up after the kids escaped next to a creator. Gally said they were controlling his mind and he unwillingly threw a knife at Thomas which Chuck jumped in front of Thomas dying instead. 20 kids survived the maze. They escaped by bus and it was learned the maze is in South America. So some interesting differences between the movie and book.

Ginger

This was a good one to kick off with. Really looking forward to seeing how this story turns out.

Badd Medicine

This movie was my favorite of the trilogy and I read was the closest in sync to the books. I didn’t think the next ones were as good and read that they really deviated from the books, so now I am starting to read the books to see if I would have liked how they were done better than how the movies were done. That being said, I have only seen the movies once so this was my second time seeing this movie, and sometimes movies grow on me the more I watch them. 😎

Ginger

Chuck. The Injustice, I was so upset ToT As much as Gally sucked here, I can understand his constant refusal. No memories, lived in one place that at least had a consistent, strict schedule that was easily adaptable, you knew what happened, when and where, and have it suddenly thrown out of wack, some people can adapt to that, while others are unable and want to desperately go back to that "normalcy", ESPECIALLY when that change meant just about certain death, like their situation. This also definitely aggravated my claustrophobia though lol, I couldn't do it. Also a note, if no one else has said the 3rd mo ie was supposed to release closer to the 2nd, but the long delay was the lead actor Dylan got seriously injured right at the beginning of filming when a stunt went wrong and he was thrown into the path of a car and hit/ran over, suffered really bad injuries and almost died, so obviously a long time recovering, then he wasn't sure if he even wanted to come back cause of anxiety and depression and probably even ptsd in some way to be even exposed to situations like that again before ultimately coming back. I think there were plans for a 4th one? But is probably not happening, I haven't watched the 3rd one to see how that film ends, just because I don't know if I want to watch a film knowing the trauma behind it, I'm just weird like that lol. It'll be my first time when you guys post your reaction. Also, did you recognize our Pirates of the Caribbean DMTNTs actors? : )

Anza

Totally agree. I haven't read the books in years now, but I remember when I saw this movie the first time I remember thinking it did really well in terms of sticking to the book then being horribly disappointed when seeing the second movie. The second movie went off track but it was still a fairly good movie.

Kunzite Blossom

Definitely do not read until y’all are finished, but I felt like this was a good article covering the subject! I even forgot how seriously the injury had affected him! Concussion, facial fracture, and brain trauma! https://www.dailynews.com/2018/01/24/how-dylan-obrien-came-back-from-a-terrible-accident-to-finish-maze-runner-the-death-cure/amp/

Jenna

This was a nice surprise. And do far everyone has said all the movies are good. Which is great to hear.

Badd Medicine

Looking forward to the other 2 films. This was a nice surprise.

Badd Medicine

Oh man I'm so glad you guys loved it!! I was late to watching these a bit so I got to watch the 1st and 2nd at home and then had to wait for the 3rd, I believe it was supposed to come out 2016\17 but it was delayed til January 2018 and the wait was worth it though. The 3rd movie in my opinion is the best and honestly one of the best movies I've ever watched, my husband and I went to see it twice in theaters which is something we've never done before lol. Wish we didn't have to wait a week but I get it 😂 Dylan O'Brien (Thomas) is one of my fave actors he's so good in everything he's done and none of his characters ever feel the same! I really want him to be the next big action star. A great standalone movie hes in is American Assassin and it also stars Michael Keaton, it's very good so I suggest. anyways I'm so happy you guys were so into it and loved this reaction!!

Amanda P

Love the reaction! I really like this movie, not gonna lie this is probably the best out of the three but I do like the last one as well, kept me on edge when I first saw it. Can't wait for you guys to react to the rest!

Katherine Rodriguez

I didn’t think the books were bad but by the third book I couldn’t hang with it anymore. The movies are very different. In the books Thomas and Teresa are telepathic. I’m glad they didn’t follow the books series completely.

Chandra

Just read a comment that the delay was because of an injury.

Badd Medicine

Definitely over our heads lol

Badd Medicine

Ok. Good to hear the other movies are good. Was wondering how those would turn out.

Badd Medicine

Oh wow. That's interesting to hear. I'll have to look that up once we get to 3.

Badd Medicine

Haha I think we overlooked it

Badd Medicine

Really surprised to see that. You always hear the opposite.

Badd Medicine

It's was really good.

Badd Medicine

Can't believe we stayed away from these. Again, if it wasn't for this and all of you, no way would we be checking out the movies we did this year. Hopefully you all keep suggesting the home runs

Badd Medicine

🤣🤣🤣 all good. I'm fixing to change that up bit soon here. It will be in the description and before the video. 🤙 Let us know if the newish forget for syncing is difficult.

Badd Medicine

I hadn’t started it yet, sorry 😅 you definitely mentioned it in the first minute 😂

Jack's World

Thanks guys 🙏🏻

Jack's World

We watched this on Amazon prime😁🤙

Badd Medicine

What platform hosts the film so I can sync it up?

Jack's World

wow I had to actually remember the twist about them working for WCKD .. its been so long since ive seen the movies. There was actually a delay between the second and third too . I never read the books on this series myself. In a way glad i didnt. I really enjoyed the suspense of the movies.

Lyonheart86(BryonH)

Really liked your reaction! Was a bit surprised that there was no comment that this is the same actress as in Pirates of the Caribbean 5. "Hey, this is Carina :D"

Baex

I have probably seen this movie way more times than I can count. This reaction seemed to fly by, but that's the pacing of the movie. I think it's the best movie of the three, but the other two are still good movies.

Graham F

OH also, I believe there was such a long delay between the second and third movies because Dylan O'Brien was actually injured on the set of the third movie while doing a stunt involving vehicles! They knew he was going to be okay, but if i remember correctly it was a fairly seriously injury that had him sitting out for a good handful of months!

Jenna

That was such a good watch along I’ve been waiting for this one for a while, really like this movie only saw it once years ago but this rewatch with you guys reminded how good it was 👍. Can’t wait to watch the rest because I’ve not actually seen 2 and 3. Also did you guys realise that the girl in this was the actress that played Carina (Barbosas daughter) in the most recent pirates film you just watched 😂 that was a fun easter egg I forgot about in this movie.

calum1

Whoo hoo!! Been waiting for The Maze Runner series. I really like these movies and it’s one of the very few times that I prefer the movies over the books.

Chandra

or treat it like the trilogy

Logan Weidner

Its a standalone movie you can rewatch

Logan Weidner

These movies are pretty good! I know some people who didn't like them at all so I stayed away for a bit but when I eventually watched I was surprised! Dystopian settings are one of my favorites! Whether it's post apocalyptic or something like Hunger Games they're always great watches.

Shane Kolaga

That's interesting to hear. You always hear how great the books were and how the movies miss. It will be interesting to see what everyone thinks

Badd Medicine

🔥🔥🔥

Badd Medicine

Excited to watch this one and also interested to see how yall feel with the rest of the trilogy! I think the general consensus for these movies was that they are good movies but not so good book adaptations. The movies had notable differences from the books that really left book fans disappointed, but the movies alone were still entertaining and done well enough. And Dylan O’Brien (Thomas) is always amazing of course! Glad y’all enjoyed this one!

Jenna

Woooo
