Also My dad was once a member of state parliament and he mentioned my name on the record and I have literally never pulled this out at a party, but maybe I will now… it was a congrats for being born so now I guess everyone has to congratulate me for being born (and pretty)

2023-10-13 08:06:38 +0000 UTCOk so in Australian Parliament (both state and fed) we have ‘Senator statements’ or ‘Member statements’ (house of reps) time on most Parliament sitting days (In between passing leg / voting on bills etc I guess to break up the day lol). So it’s where a Member / Senator can get up and basically say whatever like ‘congratulations to the the blah blah under 10 soccer team for winning their grand final’ and do spiel for a few minutes (members do this more than Senators) and then that goes on official record that it was acknowledged. (Members do this more usually because it’s for someone / something in their local community / electorate). Then I guess maybe they send them out a copy of the official record / speech or something (I dunno though cause I work for a Senator and we like never do these community ones). I assume this thing for Robyn is something similar.

2023-10-11 13:51:56 +0000 UTCThe “proclamation” for Robyn is something your House Rep or state Assemblymember can do for you!! You have to request it and it’s on fancy paper with a seal. Usually the Congress/Assembly member presents it to you in person at a ceremony but not always. She probably filled out all of the stuff herself and submitted it 😅
