What's Coming to OldSunset in October

So guys, how are you? Feel the story! Today we're going to talk about the latest changes to OldSunset. This month flew by! With a recent survey, I found that most people don't go that deep into the story. In other words, the age variations of Citizens of OldSunset have not generated enough interest to be taken advantage of at this time.

And I totally understand that. Only one person shared interacting with the Sims variations that came in the last update (Including Patreon and Members Club Youtube polls). It made me realize that sometimes putting time and effort into a category can end up distracting me from the real effort I should be putting into OldSunset that would make people more excited to participate.

So this month, I kept the variations only for Victor and Gretle Goth who were the Sims that were already pre-routed at the end of last month. This opened up time for me to dig deeper by developing 2 parallel family trees.

In other words, all the ancestors of: Mortimer Goth!

We have Gretle and Victor: Mortimer's paternal grandparents. Gunthers's parents.

And of course, your biography and personal data cannot be left out:

Victor Goth:

Gretle Goth:

As you may know, Gunther is not an only child. He has a sister who appeared in the narrative of The Sims 3 Supernatural but was already in Mortimer's cemetery in The Sims 2. So these are Gretle and Victor's children:

Frida Goth:

Gunther Goth:

Both Frida and Gunther were generated using the Genetics tool and subtly tweaked to have their appearance reminiscent of their parallel versions since The Sims 1.

Gunther fell in love with Cornelia, but as we know, Cornelia comes from the Crumplebottom family. Therefore, I passed development to Mortimer's maternal line, developing their respective relatives.

Then we have Simon and Prudence: Mortimer's maternal grandparents. Cornelia's parents.

Simon Crumplebottom:

Prudence Crumplebottom:

Both gave birth to Cornelia and Agnes Crumplebottom. Which are present in their younger versions in the world of Sunset Valley.

Cornelia Crumplebottom:

Agnes Crumplebottom:

Cornelia's look was heavily inspired by her version in The Sims 1 as was Agnes' look. Now we had everything we needed to give life to Mortimer, so Cornelia and Gunther joined in marriage.

While Mortimer is already pre-routed, several tweaks are still needed to get a look worthy of OldSunset. So we'll take a little longer. In the month of October we had some different challenges. We completed the translation of a manual with more than 300 pages in less than 2 weeks (which took me by surprise, I expected it to take much longer) and we redesigned once again the region where Victor and Greta's house is located. Obviously, as I started to develop other family members after the deadline, I didn't have time to develop specific houses for them. Sorry about that.

The region now has a walking trail in the back and several decorations to better integrate the family atmosphere of this area. We added a new house to counterbalance the building style of the neighborhood and completed the entire interior area of the new Goth family home. Inspired by the Gothic style but with old English influences much more present! Remember the Coffins are still not the Coffins we know. So your tastes are still in the process of maturing.

For the interior, it was important to bring versatility and space, since the lot is not that big. Surprisingly, they fit 2 bedrooms and 1 suite on the upper floor that combine perfectly with the living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and office on the lower floor.

I'm still delighted with how it all came together on a smaller than 25x25 batch. Space is a matter of perspective!

As I mentioned, OldSunset will have its own manual and for that some designs had to be developed. One of the designs that will be available in advance in this month's content includes a biographical page to fill in information about the Sims (.PSD)

A curiosity: I drafted a horizontal concept on paper, but ended up adjusting the idea for a vertical page.

(Still a work in progress and needs to be revisited in the future for design tweaks) But it already gives a good idea of how much space there will be for each area.

I separated a folder with the icons of personality traits and favorites so that it could be easily filled in via Photoshop. In this link you can see a little of the process of creating this page.

While researching visual references for the idea within the game files, I came across some CAS files and designed a new mod to improve the look of the Create a Sim frame and background after the family was created. I'm still trying new things, but it's already forwarded in the mods folder files updated this month.

Plus, we have 133 new textures added to Create a Style Favorites to customize your home, outfits, and whatever else you want! All in shades that match absolutely anything!

Textures ranging from leather, geometric to smoother fabrics or solid colors to use as a base for any upholstery or outfit you prefer!

By the end of the day the updated files will be available for download. We will have 18 Sims with 12 variations of the same Sims (in different age groups). I'm making adjustments to OldSunset's work dynamics from September to now to better understand how to provide greater benefits for those who are playing. So this month we won't have a timeline with stories as we've spent time creating new characters to share the world in OldSunset. But don't worry... The future will hold true treasures of complexity regarding each Sim's particular narrative and experiences!

Thank you for supporting and following our work so far. In a few hours the download will be available!!
