So in terms of why vecna is going after max before the other kid it's because he has been her target before the boy. When he chooses the basketball player he starts getting a nose bleed, that signifies he's a target. Vecna chose max as a victim before spring break since we seen Mike sitting next to her in class when her nose started bleeding. I'm sure u guys figured it out by now but just in case u hadn't thought I'd mention it.
