EARLY ACCESS: LOTR The Return of the King FULL REACTION

The epic conclusion of the Lord of The Rings The Return of the King is here and what an epic battle this was along with Frodo's journey! We did not see that coming for Frodo at all! Bravo to all these characters! Everyone did awesome in these movies. This trilogy was epic! Glad 20 years later we were able to enjoy them!

Tell us, is this the greatest trilogy? If not, where does this rank for you?

EARLY ACCESS: LOTR The Return of the King FULL REACTION

Comments

I don't know if anyone commented this, but the book tells us that Denethor had a Palantir (like Saruman's orb). Through that, Sauron manipulated him and convinced him that there was no hope for man. So he maybe wasn't QUITE as horrible as the film portrays him, because he's been broken by Sauron - and few men can stand against him, eh? Still a terrible dad, though...

Kirstine Aaen

Haha, that's hilarious!

Kirstine Aaen

Yes... Fully aware. This was one of our first. Unfortunately we can't fix it.

your time is really ass sry

My favorite thing on these movies is the ratings descriptions. They just escalate. Fellowship: Rated PG-13 for battle sequences and some scary images Two Towers: Rated PG-13 for epic battle sequences and scary images Return of the king: Rated PG-13 for intense epic battle sequences and frightening images

Eric Wallace

My man Aragorn out here bodying both orcs and shield maidens lol

Toan Toan

Staying up late to finish these. 😆 I did want to mention for all of you that asked about the locations. If they were CGI. (I know it's really late since you reacted lol) But most of the scenic landscape scenes were all real, shot on location. Including Edoras. The capital of Rohan where King Theoden lives. They actually built that whole set which took 9 months! So that whole area/scenes were all real. It was built on Mount Sunday in the Ashburton District in New Zealand.

Sarah

🤜🤛😁🤙

Badd Medicine

Also the Oak saying that you met the actors at an event, come on mannn I'm so jealous...

alix charles

Hello from France :) I know I'm late but I started following you for The Lord of the Rings and I never stopped watching you after that. I agree with the theater thing, I went to see The Hobbit trilogy in the theater and some scenes were just mind blowings (I couldn't for Lotr because I wasn't born lol🥲). It was a great ride with you guys, keep it up, you're doing an amazing job!✌️(btw Legolas and his hair, what a sight)

alix charles

The sword forging scene actually featured the people who made the swords for the movies, so that's pretty cool

Eric Wallace

You guys got the benefit of not having to wait a year between movies and getting to see the extended editions first, but you definitely missed out on the epic feel you only got by watching this in the theater. When I saw this for the first time, the lighting of the beacons on the big screen with the surround sound gave me goosebumps and I was in tears when everyone bowed to the hobbits at the end. Just a note, Aragorn healing Eowyn and the others was important for him to prove he was the rightful king to the people because the true king was known to have hands of healing. Also, Eowyn was King Theoden’s niece, you guys referred to her as his daughter. 😁

Ginger

Hahaha that's funny to hear. I can see that happening. They did that a few times. Makes you think it's over

Badd Medicine

I remember watching this in the theater and when it got to the actual end everyone sat there for a moment because we weren't quite sure it was really over. People kept getting up a few times before thinking it was over. Glad you guys liked the series.

Zoe

Oh that's interesting to hear.

And to follow up to this, as I recall from the books, Arwen actually gave Frodo her slot/spot that she would have had on the last ship and her place she would have had in Valinor as a gift if the burden of what happened to him became too much to bear. Bilbo and Frodo wouldn't be immortal and live forever, but they were able to live out the rest of their years pain free and in relative peace.

Starlit Valkyrie

Roger that🤙

Ah OK, so filter is not working (might wanna report it to Patreon) but if I scroll down the feeds they show up. Cheers.

CG

That's weird. Try this.... https://youtu.be/WEqI1ZTAZoM

Badd Medicine

I did, it says "These filters have no posts."

CG

Look in the month of April & maybe March

Badd Medicine

Where's the Full reaction for LOTR 1 & 2??

CG

I think we will be checking that out and someone also said to check out the reunion.

Badd Medicine

I don't know if this is the best spot for this, but I would recommend watching the whole behind-the-scenes creation of these films. The extra content and context into the absolute FEAT of production in this project is just as much of an epic tale as the films themselves. Maybe not "reaction" worthy, but all of you will definitely enjoy it.

Beau

Hell yeah, Iggy! And thanks for the insight there. Much appreciated 🤘🤘🤘

Badd Medicine

6 bucks for a full side-by-side reaction watching with you guys? Don't mind if I do. ^^ Edit: Yeah, the part about Frodo leaving was partly because of the psychological trauma of succumbing to the power of the ring, but it was also because of the Morgul blade stab wound that never really healed. Both of you were right. Both traumas would be better tended to with the Elves. Also in the books Sam lived a happy, long life with Rosie Cotton where he was elected mayor of the Shire for 7 consecutive terms, and he went to join Frodo in the west after Rosie died of age. The Elves granted him passage because he, too, was a ringbearer, even if just for a short time. Gimli, too, was granted passage to the west where he met with his bestie Legolas. ^o^ The books are a treasure of good feel stuff like that, but also the dark part about the initial return to the Shire; it was not a happy one at first. Maybe the 4th edit: You guys do a lot of heavy breathing because you're holding back the sobbing at some parts of the trilogy. It's okay to cry, come on. ^o^ Another surprise about you guys is that The Oak is the most stoic one during emotional scenes, yet he is the one showing most emotions when he finally lets the river flow. :)

Iggy Xander

Ahhhh..... Now that makes sense

Badd Medicine

There were three eagles to rescue them off the mountain because they were still hoping to save Smeagol.

CF

Haha yeah, his brothers were excited! Thank you for watching and supporting! We greatly appreciate it 🤘

Badd Medicine

That was awesome ! Yeah these films just tick all the boxes you need to make an all time great, and they did it 3 times ! Forever a 5/5 across the board & really enjoyed watching along 🙌 Oak seeing his memes come to life was def a highlight 😂 & shoutout to his family for trying to persuade him for 20 years !🤘Thanks !

Lika

Thank you for the support Katt! We greatly appreciate it 🤘

Badd Medicine

Definitely going to check out a bunch of stuff now that we have finished the trilogy.

Badd Medicine

Well done on this series guys, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Katt Phatt

Glad to support. There are more bits of Tolkien reading from LOTR, but audiobooks weren't a thing yet when these were written. I calculated based on the audiobooks I have of LOTR that it would have taken 30+ records to contain all of them. The sequel is fascinating and is little known, my brother took classes in college on LOTR with someone who consulted on the movies and never heard of it. Unfortunately the sequel was set after the death of aragorn, but the sequel has reinspired me to again take up my own writing as I had been toying around with similar themes. If you want to read more about the battle for the Shire at the end of the story there are lots of YouTube channels about the lore of LOTR and if you search for "Scouring of the Shire" you'll find tons of videos giving details and reading experts. Same for The New Shadow. Look forward to being able to watch this reaction later

Andrew Hansen

First off thank you for the support. And second, great stuff here. Glad you dropped the knowledge. Definitely will be checking out that link later today. That would've been pretty cool to have a sequel. I know there are the hobbit movies, but would've been nice to see Aragorn and others.

Badd Medicine

New to your channel but joined to watch all of LOTR with you. Still have to finish two towers before starting this one, but a couple cool things now that you're done with them. Including the book ended that's very different from the movie ending While we don't have a full audiobook recording of Tolkien reading all of LOTR, we do have bits and pieces of Tolkien himself reading bits and pieces. Here is him reading the Ride of the Rohirrim, it's even more epic than movie's depiction. https://youtu.be/G6jhKEqtLxM Tolkien also started writing a sequel to LOTR but decided not to because it was too sinister and depressing so he only wrote 13 pages of it. It was centered around this, this from a letter he wrote to a fan, "Since we are dealing with Men, it is inevitable that we should be concerned with the most regrettable feature of their nature: their quick satiety with good. So that the people of Gondor in times of peace, justice and prosperity, would become discontented and restless." Its working title was "The New Shadow." SPOILER: So Frodo, Gandalf and bilbo do leave the Grey Havens for the Undying lands like in the movies but the time between Aragorn's coronation and that is very different in the book. The Hobbits return to the Shire to find it controlled by a tyrant and the Hobbits enslaved. Worse still, the bad guys basically salted the earth so that nothing would grow anymore. They come to find it had been Sauromon who was now governing The Shire. The only military force protecting the Shire had been Aragorn and his fellow rangers, but they had left and Sauromon moved in after being kicked out of Orthanc. Merry and Pippin lead a rebellion and overthrow Sauromon and are heroes. Sam uses some magic given to him by Galadriel to restore the land and is also a hero, but no one in the Shire remembers Frodo's role in saving the world.
