I think all the nonsense with the big cat in the car is supposed to be a reference/homage to Bringing Up Baby, in which Katharine Hepburn has a pet tiger and drives Spencer Tracy crazy. Like it's supposed to be saying "Hey guys, this is screwball!" But it doesn't work and the fact that they tried is actually insulting to Katharine Hepburn
