2022-12-06 01:53:28 +0000 UTCSame experience here except I only have one child. My psych says the best meds to use during pregnancy are the ones that work for the mother. If your regimen is working for you, that is the best situation for the baby as well.

Most psychiatrists tell you to speak with your OBGYN and then your OBGYN will tell you to speak with your psychiatrist about it and then you end up off all of your psych meds. I have four kids and during my first two pregnancies they had me go off medication (Lexapro and Adderall) and I really really struggled. During my last two found a reproductive psychiatrist who worked half of the time in the obstetricians clinic. We discussed the risks and benefits of each medication and she showed my the current research (that is severely lacking because of the ethics of running trials on pregnant women). I ended up staying on both medications through out the pregnancies and both babies were healthy. The did need a few extra well check scans but that was it. I also didn’t get PPD after the birth the two times I continued taking medications!
