I saw a David Sedaris book reading last year, after being a fan FOREVER, and it really left me not liking him as a person. He did a very heavy reading from his latest book, and told a lot of shockingly off-color jokes about fucking babies? The reading he chose was about his sister Tiffany and how he is now reckoning with her suicide and how their father may have s*xually abused her and maybe all of them. And then the parents sent Tiffany to this horrendous school called the Elan School, where so many of the students died by suicide later in life. But he did not seem really that remorseful about how he treated Tiffany, or wrote her as this crazy person, or how she was mistreated by others in her life. It was all about David and he also implied that Tiffany was a liar about a lot of the abuse. I walked away having so much empathy for his poor sister and also thinking JFC, maybe he's a funny person but he sure seems to be an asshole human being.

His earlier writing was so meaningful to me, but I’m sad to see that over the past few years he has become really closed-minded and out of touch. I think his wealth and success has caused him to lose his ability to relate to people.

2022-11-03 14:24:45 +0000 UTCfor the soft boiled egg holder - you keep the shell on except the top. you crack off the top shell w a spoon and remove it like it’s a little hat. Then you scoop out the insides with a little tiny spoon, or cut toast up into strips and dunk in the yolk. It’s good!
