Influence Me (Chapter 1)

Here we have not only our next multi part story, but also quite possibly the longest gestating story I've ever written? It kinda requires some explanation.

Around a year or so into me writing these longer prose stories on patreon, rather than the captions I began with, I had an idea for a story which focused on social media in Stepford. Originally it was going to be sort of an epistolary story, with everything being relayed via text posts on an internet message board used by housewives in town. I tried fiddling with that story and various takes on it for years and years, coming back to it every 4-6 months but never making a dent in it.

Recently, I came back to it with a different approach. Instead of focusing on the idea of a website used by Stepford citizens, I took the direction of a story that focuses on the idea of social media influencers and the impact they can have. Essentially, could a regular person be influenced by social media into becoming a Stepford housewife? It's inspired by my original idea for Stepford Social Media, as well as the rise in tradwives on tiktok (my mortal enemies) and also by the warm reception to the story I was commissioned to write where a trans man ends up in Stepford.

So here we have a story about a trans woman who is primed by social media influencers to go down the path towards Stepford wifedom. Hope you enjoy!

(Also, for the time being I'm just going to refer to the protagonist as Miss Drake, at least until she lands on a permanent first name.)
