CMSN: Implantation (Stepfordization)

The idea was for a Stepfordization story in which a doctor is mind controlled and made into a housewife, while still retaining her skills and intellect, but no longer using them due to the mind control device she's been implanted with. And instead of a chip in the brain, we went with a more obvious implant, like, well, a cochlear implant!
I don't use outright mind control too often in my work, but I'm really happy with how it worked out here. I've mentioned this now and then, but I actually tend to doubt my own talent at depicting the process or method of someone being mind controlled or brainwashed? I can write people, I can write dialogue, I can write brainwashed housewives, but the actual Stepfordization sequences are where I think I struggle. And stories like this give me a reason to work on that, and to get better at it!
