New second channel

I've started a side channel to put content that doesn't fit on the main channel. Sometimes I want to answer someone's question really quick without spending a lot of time producing something that's algorithm-friendly. And sometimes I have educational content that is more "boring" in style, like an extract from a livestream.

I had this problem last year when I did a long series of livestreams on Twitch on the Federalist Papers. Since it was educational I wanted to post them on YouTube, but I couldn't post them as regular videos on the main channel without hurting the channel. I'm making those videos unlisted and included them in a public playlist, but that isn't ideal.

So my solution is to create a separate channel for stuff like that. It is tentatively called "Premodernist Lectures" but I'm considering other names. (I'm really tempted to call it "Boring Premodernist." I will consider other names if you have any ideas.) I don't have plans to upload there regularly. My focus is still on the main channel. But when a topic comes up that I would previously have thought, "That would not perform well," instead of just not doing it, I might make something quick and put it there. A lot of the videos on there will probably be faceless with just slides with voiceover, and also some edited livestreams. I might also livestream directly on there.

Last spring I said I was going to make a podcast on the history of Iran. That hasn't been made yet; I'm still putting it together. When I start publishing those audio recordings I'll probably also post them on the new second channel.

This new channel will not supplant or compete with the main channel. The main channel is still getting the bulk of my effort and attention. It's just a place to put extra stuff that can't go on the main channel.
