Mixing large amounts of grey with bolder hits of color matches my hopes for this painting much better than the more colorful direction it started off with. Going more colorful or more monochrome is never a given. Different paintings all seem to call out for different treatment.
Whenever I revisit an older concept, I always want to find a fresh dimension to it. In this case, taking the color in a totally new direction was far more fulfilling for me than sticking close to the look of the original.
