I had to tidy up some of the more vague bits of the painting before I started on the colors. As I've mentioned with past paintings, my coloring method doesn't really work until there is a certain amount of detail and subtly built into the shading. The goal is to get small hits of opposing colors within small segments of the painting. You can see that happening in this image in Raziel's tunic where a mixture of tans a blues break out of the grey tones. I rely on these colors to emerge naturally from the process and then do my best to shepherd them through the detail steps to follow.
