Shipping Update + Sales Tax Changes

Hey guys, here's a super boring business update just in case you had questions about operational stuff.

Shipping Pin and Legacy Prints

The legacy prints for Pisces all shipped today along with the Sign of the Seraphim pins in all of those print tubes. Between those packages and all the orders for non-pin related merchandise over the last week, we spent a long day making sure all the large and complex orders hit the mail stream.

If you're in the US you should see a big tube arriving sometime within the next 2-7 days. Everyone else might have to wait a bit longer. I've gotten reports back from collectors that it has taken up to 8 weeks for some packages to arrive in the UK due to changes in the ways packages are going overseas. Please be patient and understand that we will replace anything that gets damaged or goes missing.

Sign of the Seraphim pins are going out a little later than I had planned, but that's due to a minor delay with packaging materials. Once our mailers arrive, we're prepped to get all of them shipped out right away. It should only take a couple of days once everything is in the right place.

Sales Tax

The government has been cracking down on e-commerce companies to pay their fair share of sales tax over the past few years. One by one, they have been forcing Internet companies to include tax as part of every purchase on their platform. Recently, that policy has been extended to Patreon.

Community managers at Patreon have reached out to me about these changes and given me information that allows me to ensure that I'm not overcharging you guys while remaining compliant.

The TL;DR is that everyone is going to start to be charged slightly more starting July 1st. This change requires no action. 

How much extra you'll be charged depends on where you live and what reward tier you are pledged to. Since most of you live in the US and are pledged to the $5 tier, this change will likely mean that you will be charged a few extra cents per month. The charge is only applicable for commercial products and since Patreon pledges aren't exactly a transactional sale, I'm going to explore options for reducing the tax burden as much as is legal.

For those of you who are pledged to the $40 tier for prints, the tax situation is a little more clear. You will see sales tax included with your pledge as though you had purchased a print from my website or convention booth. The tax rate is dependant on your location. It's typically 8-10% in the US but could be as low as 0% in states like Oregon and as high as 25% if you live in Sweden (RIP my loyal Swedes).
