Nothing super new as far as this color palette is concerned. It's been hovering somewhere between where Asbeel and the last Azrael painting. But hey, those sickly yellows are super fun to paint. Fading between the saturated bits and damp grey tones is always very effective at building mood and atmosphere.
The Driftwood Cathedral represents the meeting place for the component elements of the human body. Saltwater flowing over tangled fiber. The sky crackling with the lighting like synapses firing in slow motion. It's dirty, messy stuff.
Azrael takes us away from our bodies at the end of life, not because he's cruel but because he's the best qualified to do it.
