Sandalphon - Detail Phase

I was hoping to complete this piece before leaving to run my yearly workshop (The Fantastic Workshop) in Nashville. What got in the way was the usual distractions. Shipping, life, etc. The precious few days of work that I had booked to finalize this were interrupted to celebrate the birthday of an uncle and spend a day in the city with my kids.

With the warm company of family and the cold comfort of bulk shipping orders filling the void in my life, I can't feel too bad about being behind, but I still wish I was posting a final.

Soon. Many of my favorite parts are still yet to come together, so the concept of procrastincation is far from my mind. I love painting details with my little round brush, so as soon as life gives me a chance to return to this, I'll get it done.

Until then, feel free to see the high res version on the Dropbox. The links are attached to the reward posts for Remiel.

Best,

-Pete

Sandalphon - Detail Phase

i just saw the print and feel the need to follow up. The digital version continues to have a intensely bright and dominating orange which is offputting to me. (At least on my monitor). The print is a stark contrast. The organge background is rich and textured with a complexity that's almost mesmerizing. I've never seen such a difference between digital and print medium for Pete's work before. While still not my favorite piece, I sat and stared at it for a couple of minutes taking it all in. Wanted to share for anyone considering getting a print.

Man, I really want to like this, but can't. The orange color is off putting. The composition of the twins is great. I also like the depth provided by the various shades of blue and purple. This may just be a case of 'to each his own', but know you encourage sharing our thoughts.
