These last 10 days have been all about Dragoncon. Prep, travel, sales, more travel and then unpacking. Somewhere in the middle, I bought that cool jacket!
Doing an event like this helps Angelarium in a number of ways and Dragoncon is the best at all of them. The sales are great but also the chance to meet you guys face to face is amazing. Several of you took time to say 'hi' and that's always amazing to me.
This was also a rare chance to see Eli Minaya and myself in the same room (he's the one taking this photo). After the success of Gencon, he opted to join me this year at Dragoncon in the Angelarium booth. He had more work at this show than any to date, so it was a great opportunity for people to get an up close look at what he brings to the table. I have a feeling you'll be seeing a lot more of him in the near future.
The downside is that big events like this take time. This is the big reason why I don't do more of these shows. The bigger they get, the more days of prep they take on top of the shows themselves. It's still worth it, but it keeps me away from making new art. On the back of the recent Kickstarter, this has left me with slowed down production for 2 straight months. Soon, I'll be back on track. There is one more big event planned for this year and that's Alamo City Comicon in San Antonio, Texas. They've invited me down there to be a part of the convention they are calling the "World's Beyond Gallery", I'll be there alongside one of my biggest inspirations, Gerald Brom.
