I remember getting hurried away from it by my wife to get ready for a family function.Starting the sketch in color means that the painting started in color too. It's an uneasy feeling to be moving away from my usual process and it's making me second guess my creative choices harder than normal. Despite the fact that this is a concept that has been floating around for about as long as the rest of the series, it's never come together. Now that I'm taking a longer look at it, perhaps the reason is that it deviates pretty sharply from many of the other pieces in the series. Angels are elemental in nature but this is just too much of a classic fantasy elemental for my taste.
My next move with this is going to experiment with merging it with the core ideas from the rest of Angelarium to see what pops out. Until I do that, I'm going to let it rest for a bit.In the mean time, I'm going to work on some other Angels.-Pete
