So, I’m playing a Leonin Monk, with the Fighting Initiate feat and the Thrown Weapon fighting style.
MMS
I like this already. Which background did you pick?
Trish
Athlete. My guy’s got a whole backstory involving his rise to sports stardom.
MMS
Oh, cool. Do tell.
Trish
Well, when he was young, he was kept as a servant by this cruel, alcoholic performer. It was rough.
MMS
But he escaped, right?
Trish
Yeah, he ran away and wound up befriending by a young athlete who taught him how to play this one game. He had some pause, but he eventually wound up becoming a star player.
MMS
Oh, that’s nice.
Trish
His former master did track him down and try to extort him after his success — turned out his bark was worse than his bite, though.
MMS
That’s a solid backstory, albeit… weirdly familiar. I like the image of this big lion dude doing sports.
Trish
Oh, no, he’s not a lion.
MMS
Didn’t you say Leonin?
Trish
Sorry, I should’ve clarified. I re-flavoured him as a dog-person. Specifically a golden retriever.
