Okay, Trish, what are you playing this time?
Trish
I got a Cervan bard with the College of Glamour subclass.
MMS
Cervan?
Trish
Like a deer person.
MMS
This isn’t just a prolonged setup for a stupid “horny bard” joke, is it?
Trish
Don’t worry. My character’s completely uninterested in romance.
MMS
What, really?
Trish
Yep. Anyway, he’s got the Noble background. He was raised as ruler of a small kingdom, but was betrayed by an advisor.
MMS
Oh, no!
Trish
Yeah, she cursed him and had her minion drag him away to kill him. But he managed to escape.
MMS
Ah, I see.
Trish
Yeah, it’s all coming together, right?
MMS
What?
Trish
Nothing. Anyway, his goal’s to return to his palace, defeat the traitor, and reclaim his throne.
MMS
And he’s using his amazing Bardic charm to do it, huh?
Trish
Oh, no, he’s not persuasive. He’s actually a huge self-centred jackass. There’s only one NPC willing to help, and him only because my character promised to save his village.
MMS
Oh, wow, okay. You mentioned a curse?
Trish
Right, so, he was actually born a human. He’s only a cervan because of the curse.
