Stepping stones
By SuitorLP
My life wasnt easy.
My parents werenât really there for me.
It was of no surprise for me to see them being taken away on my 10th birthday
Afterall they were villains
I was more than happy to be brought into foster care
But that diddnt help much
I was rebellious thanks to my parents
My father beating his world view of âeat or be eatenâ into me since my quirk had awoken
I saw the other children as rivals trying to steal my food and too late I had realized that this wasnât the case
I ran away multiple times
But returned a few days late covered in bruises and dirt hungry and thirsty
And to tell you the truth I donât know why
Franky I diddnt realize how good I had it there
But of course because of my behavior I was never taken by a careing family
After they kicked me out at the age of 18 I was lost
No education
No food
No roof
But I kept being defiant to any authority
I lived my life stealing
Partying and whoreing myself out
I wasnât proud of that I just wanted to forget the pain
By this time many nights were spend in the streets it wasnât bad perse mostly because of my quirk I could keep creeps away
Having an offensive quirk like mine has its uses
But of course this meant that whenever I was outside over nights
I couldnât rest
There is nothing more humiliateing then going to sleep on a park bench just to wake up to some bratty kid pokeing you with a stick asking you if your still alive
It was around this time I met akria
Like me, a nobody but he had something
And that something was drugs
He let me stay multiple nights at his rundown apartment and outside of a feeling of euphoria after I took whatever he gave me but everything else is just blacked out completely
I know I must have done lewd stuff to and with him he was just that type
But he gave me something no one else did and that was something like affection
But I must have gotten boring to him
First he gets me addicted on whatever crap he gave me and then just throws me out
Back on the streets
With a body broken by him his friends and this stuff
So here I am right this second
Standing by the river
I wonder do I need a stone
No
My heart is heavy enough
It will drag me down into the cold abyss below me
I smile as a tear runs down my face
Will i be missed at all?
No ill be glad to leave it behind
I jump
Someone jumps after me
And the world turns into a deep cold black
25
26
27
I was counting the seconds until I would completely drift away
32
33
30,,, ´what comes over 33 I forgot
41
42
Something warm is pressing on my lips
It tastes vaguely of Wine
And then I saw
The light of a street lamp hovering above me
I was still alive
Of course
With a world full of heros
No one will let me go
Without some goody two shoes safeing me for his 2 seconds of fame
Maybe I can ruin his parade if I say the right things
I almost smile when I raise my upper body of the ground
Only to then uncerimounously vomit out water that had been accumulateing inside me
I heard my savior chuckle next to me
A chuckle that radiated both Kindness and utter diciplin
Wait how does that even work?
Once my guts were emptied out I turned to my right
There stood a man with White and red hair
His mouth still cocked up into a smile from laughter
His hair was split in the middle to red and white
And he was wearing a now quite wet suite
i probably just ruined his special night out
he moved to sit next to me
Not saying a word
Was he waiting for me to say something
Just when I was about to open my mouth to talk he began
âwas this a stunt or an ⌠attemptâ
The way he phrased the word attempt made me shiver
âan attempt? I donât think you mean quirk activationâ
He chuckled this time sounding grave
Something about his body language felt familiar
âyou knowâŚâ he started
âwhen I was little I had a very dramatic childhood â
He scratched a spot under his left eye
You haddnt noticed it yet but there was a very subtle scar
âwhat I mean is I was there sure ⌠you must have gotten through some serious dirt but ⌠a long time ago a friend stopped me from ending it andâ he gave me a sincere look
That made my shoulder tense
âwho would I be just letting someone do the same mistake I almost didâ
He leaned closer to me
Not uncomfortably close just close enough so he could make his point
âLet me help you pleaseâ
I sighed a sigh of frustration
âWhat are you offering me?â
His mouth twitched up into a genuine smile
âwe are going to spend a pleasant evening im not a psychiatrist and im not claiming I can heal your wounds but I can listen push you into the right directionâ
I gave him a pained smile
âI donât even know your name mister heroâ
His face turned soft
âShoto todoroki I ⌠donât have a hero name mostly to piss off my old manâ
That comment made me snort
And think for just a moment
If i remembered correctly shoto Todoroki was a friend of the Number 1. Hero Grape juice
Infact Todoroki was the representative of his hero agency
Maybe this guy was really just trying to help me
I thought
Maybe this guy could help me
He stretched out his left hand and I took it
He grasped firmly
Almost uncomfortably but still somewhat gentle
Immidatly a heat filled my entire being
For a moment I shrieked but his protective grin kept me calm
At first I diddnt realize what he was doing until I noticed
That eventually I was dry
âMy office is nearbyâ
He said
And I looked into his eyes
These unusual two colored eyes
âI will make a few phone calls and it has a changing room get you into something more fitting for where we are goingâ
I opened my mouth questiongly but he quickly put a finger on my lips
âNah no spoilerâ
He winked
Then I followed him to a limousine that was standing at the exit of the bridge I had jumped off
He must have immidatly jumped out of the vehicle while its driver was still moveing the vehicle
Todoroki was right
The drive inside the limo was very short
It just barely reached the 5 minute mark
After leaveing the imousine
We found ourselfe infront of a giant office sky scrapper
âmy office is on the top floor follow meâ
He took my hand and with an excited gasp we sprinted into the building
This childishness diddnt suite his rather serious voice face and overall demenour
I thought that maybe he was trying to raise the mood before brining it crushinly down with the topics we were about to discus
Shoto lead me to an elevator at the end of a lavishly decorated Hallway
All of this stuff looked so unbelievably expensive
The plants decorateing the walls looked so excotic they might be more expensive then anything you had ever owned
After a long elevator ride we reached an office but maybe the term office wasnât right
It looked like tatami style house
With sliding doors
It even had a stone garden on a balcony leading outside
âThis is amazingâ I muttered under my breath
He gave a hearty laugh
âthis is my officeâ
Then he pointed at a sliding door to our left
âand thatâs the changing room get some more normal clothes and thenâ
His arm moved towards a tiny table
âand then we talkâ
I scratched the back of my neck
Doubt filling my mind
Was this really happening?
Or was I having a dream while drowning
Was this my personal heaven or was this going to be my personal hell
After getting changed
and entering back into the main office
I noticed that shoto had prepared tea
âSit down andâ he threw a smile at me
Another one of these genuine heart warming smiles
This time It actually made me blush
And then
We talked
Well
Mostly I talked
I talked until my throat hurt
I cried
I cried until my face was red from tears
He only interrupted for occasional questions
His face showing a wealth of emotions throught my story
The story
That was my life
When I reached the end he was quiet
For a very long time
Behind him
The sun had begun to rise making him appear like an angel
And then I finally asked
âam I dead shotoâŚâ
His serious face turned into confusion
âall this its ⌠its too good how are the odds of someone like you showing me not only this kindness but also being patient enough I mean ⌠look at youâ
i pointed at the sun behind him
A single tear ran down his face
âthat was both the weirdest and nicest compliment I ever recived but no you arenât dead ⌠yetâ
âyet?â I asked
A deep feeling of worry emerging
Was he going to kick me out now? Was I beyond saveing
Even from him?
âwith yetâ he said after he noticed my face turning sour
âI mean I wont stop you from trying again you went through some serious stuff but im also here to help you and I will gladly help youâ
I gave him a light chuckle in response
Somehow he managed to say both the right thing and the wrong thing at the same time
âtell you whatâ he started
âI can hire you work for me I pay you and â he paused and then looked me up and down
âand for now I can let you life in my guest room in my house until you can afford something bigger butâ
He paused and his tone turned serious
âplease donât break my trust I will only give you one chanceâ
I gulped
And then accepted his offer
The sun shined on my pale face
It was morning
A beautiful morning
Slowly I got out of bed trying to not wake up my husband
With light steps I walked into the bathroom
My hair was a mess
So I decided to take a shower
The warm water was feeling like a rejuvinateing summer rain
When suddenly the bathroom door opened
âheyâ I heard my husband say in a somewhat seductive way
âheyâ I said back
He could only see my sillouett through the thin fabric of the shower curtain
âgot room for someone else?â
âSHOTOâ I exclaimed in an offended yet playfull manner
âyou pervert!â
He chuckled loud enough for you to hear
âSays the girl that did THAT to me last nightâ
I blushed
âdonât worry I aint judgingâ
Despite my protest he still slid behind me
And wrapped his muscular arms around my waist
âim glad you took the jobâ he mumbled into my ear
âyou asked me toâ
Yesterday shoto had offered you a job at his old high school
The prestigious UA
You were going to be the schools new Librarian
Excitement had filled you body upon hearing that
You might not have died that night
But you sure have reached your own personal heaven
