Two Brothers + Galactic Camp + FWA Drawings

So much to tell on this new journal, I'll try to be consecutive.

First... about that first drawing I'm sharing this time, the one of the Two Brothers (which is a provisional title)

Two Brothers

Looong ago that this hadn't happened this to me, I got a point of my career that I was trusting everyone who wanted a commission from me that I was completely confident to always offer charging for a drawing until the work is done. I had more advantages than disadvantages at doing it that way, the only risky part is the person didn't pay for it when they got a drawing done, but in my 15 years of taking commissions to furries, it had happened to me.. once, but that only time happened when I was a noob and I was just starting. Out from there, I was even recommending my fellow artists that they should be confident to charge after the drawing is done, because many reasons: we build trust, we have even more motivations to finish the drawing at time, and some people even give more than what we are charging if they get happy with the results. But as you can imagine, it happened to me for a second time.

A person contacted me, telling me how rushing they wanted a drawing gift for their friend's birthday, I even offered to do a traditional piece and mail it to their address, since I was traveling to the USA I could mail it directly from there and they were going to get the drawing just before their friend's birthday. They even offered me to pay me more than what I was telling for how grateful they were for allowing this. And as soon as I showed them the final result, they stopped replying, it seems like they deleted their account (or they blocked me).
It's a shame! Fortunately the final picture I showed them it was a photo with my phone, so they didn't receive the high resolution, and these characters were not THEIR or their friend's characters, they made me create these characters for their friend. So far, they are nameless characters. And now I have a new original watercolor piece that I can exhibit at Anthrocon and sell it there on the auction, maybe I won't get what this person told me they were going to pay me for this piece but they made me create a new piece for such art show.
I really hope I can keep trusting people, I really don't want to stop trusting furries due this experience, but for sure I will be more careful, and maybe for those unknown ones I may charge them just after the sketch is done, and not when the final piece is done.

And if this person gets, some how, these high resolution files, I'm sorry but it is not theirs anymore, this is not a commission for them anymore.

Galactic Camp

They made me do an urgent badge illustration for this event called Galactic Camp that is a furry convention in an aircraft carrier in San Francisco, California, USA.
This illustration was done during my flights from and back to FWA.

I don't want to jynx anything yet, like I did with Brazil FurFest when they told me they wanted me to be their Guest of honor and in the end they didn't say anything else. But these guys mentioned me to be invited for next year to this one. I'm kind of nervous because nowadays it makes me anxious to be on a spotlight (metaphorically talking), but let's see how it goes and if this was truth.

FWA

I attended FWA, it was too much fun. It was kind of dangerous that I was having very high expectations of my time at this convention, it was something that I planned on a very last minute, but I wanted to have such trip somehow as therapy. I had some melancholic moments but in general it was more fun than I expected.

For being a last minute decision, I missed joining the regular lottery for the Artists Alley and the only thing I could do was joining the waiting list (I have many complaints about their current waiting list system, but I'm not going to rant about their virtual queues here), fortunately I could have a spot on Sunday. But also I missed getting a ticket for the aquarium, and most of my friends were going to the aquarium event on Thursday; in our group, only a friend and I were not, so we could have some company during that evening, but fortunately another friend could get us tickets, for both of us, to the aquarium, and as soon as we knew, we jumped in fursuits and took the shuttle bus. It was such a nice experience. I love when we get to fursuit in places that are not common to be fursuiting. We saw many fishes, sharks, manta rays... and I wanted to see penguins but I couldn't find them.

The drawings I'm sharing here, the two first were part of an art jam session, for Mudkipper and Kaos. And then the rest were done during the artists alley, for: Russec and Skotch, Callisto Yeen, Kazan, Stitches and Azul Yoshi (this last one was requested to be on digital).

I'm sharing on this post the process videos of that sketch, the galactic camp badge, and also a process video I recorded with my phone of the Two Brothers illustration.

Maxillofacial Surgery

Oh no! D:
Another health relation thing!

The bad part of my FWA experience is that I had some pain on my molar that was annyoing me during the event. But it was not until the airport day back home that the pain was unbearable, it helped me to take ibuprofen, but at that moment, waiting on my boarding gate, I was making an appointment with my dentist, so I could be checked the next day.
She checked me, even took me an x-ray, and it is my wisdom tooth that is growing on a very wrong way, and it is pushing all the rest of my teeth, and she told me it was very urgent to get a surgery to extract it, because for the way it is growing, it will quickly bend my other teeth, and it is also creating a space in which food remains can remain without being able to easily remove them, and this can result in an infection, in addition to the fact that the pain will increase more and more.

Tomorrow I have an appointment for my surgery, I already read what are the precautions I have to take in the coming days aren't fun. First, I can't exercise anymore, and that's just when I was planning to swim daily and consistently. Another thing is that I won't be able to eat well in the coming days; I'll have to be consuming only liquid food. That definitely doesn't sound delicious. And I need to be resting a lot.

But well, that's how it is! Hope I can recover quickly so I can nom and swim again.
(Oh and this is costing me nothing, advantages of living in Mexico)

Hope the resting part also includes drawing, haha. I'm still taking care of my wrist, I promise! But definitely I have many ideas for drawings (and I still need to finish so many drawings that I've promised, and I want to open for commissions soon!!)

Anyway, thank you so much for all your support! And welcome to those new people who just joined this Clubhouse! This panda loves you a lot!

Paco.
