Have faith in Nick. He was put in a terrible situation and isn’t ready to bring any attention on himself. Everybody was there egging him on. He will prove himself worthy of your (and Charlie’s) trust. Also, fwiw the back half of this episode might be some of my least favorite moments of the season. The next couple episodes are some of my favorites!

Aw! I'm really enjoying your reactions, and I totally understand your frustration with this episode! It just shows how this show has us all completely invested in Nick and Charlie, and we don't want anything bad to happen to them. But I think you'll be REALLY happy with the next episode :) One thing to remember is that Nick is incredibly nice and would never want to embarrass anyone in front of other people. He's also only 16 and really confused, not about his feelings for Charlie, but because he's never liked a boy before. And also, his "friends" (saying that very loosely), the ones he hangs out with every morning, at lunch time, plays rugby with, and hangs out with outside of school sometimes, are incredibly homophobic and like the guys who bullied Charlie when he was outed. He knows exactly how they'll react if he and Charlie make their relationship public, unfortunately. One of the things I noticed upon rewatch, is how torn Nick looks standing on the field after Charlie gets hurt, looking between his friend group and Charlie's friend group ~ who hate each other by the way ~ knowing who he wants to be with, but still trying to find the courage to face the consequences it will bring, while carrying guilt about that and not wanting to hurt Charlie. Unlike Ben, Nick genuinely cares about Charlie and his feelings, and he's feeling super guilty about the "secret" thing. He's also not afraid to hang out with Charlie in public or spend time with him outside of school. Huge difference! Bless him, he needs time to sort out this part of himself that kind of hit him like a bulldozer out of the blue. I just love this show, it's so revolutionary, and despite the way this episode ends, is so wholesome and sweet. It just gets better :) Looking forward to the rest of your reactions!
