Map03 Rough Sketch Overview

In case you're not able to tell right away, this level has been absolutely kicking my ass. It is probably one of the most ambitions maps I have sketched so far and it took me almost a month to piece together all the objectives, story elements and visuals I wanted.

You might notice from the file name that this is not only Map03 but also Map10 - the final map (which will obviously be expanded and have many different areas). This place is the Capital's religious center, and much like the Lancer Temple in Hedon, it is a place dedicated to the Elemental Gods, which reflects into the general layout. 

Since the objectives are fairly complex and the 'civilian' playthrough is bound to add a whole other layer of complexity, I expect to spend one more week polishing this, detailing the buildings and placing some of the vital objects and actors.

In other words, I have the geometric layer, I just need to model it to fit with fun gameplay too. So stay tuned for that :^)

Oh, I'm pretty much just hand-drawing them in Photoshop with a grid on. I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing them this way, it's just that I'm used to working in PS

What is it you are using to make your maps? I could use something like that for some of my smaller game projects. :)

Yep, for a while now I feel like comparing Haggard to Deus Ex makes more and more sense :^)

Wow! Definitely looks like it'll be nothing short of awesome mate. And there're multiple 'paths' or playthroughs? I like that idea. I'm looking at it now, and it looks very intricate. Lots of detail. Sort of if you crossed Deus Ex and Thief. We need moar ImSims!
