Last few days I've been working on the Dwarves.
I've split them up into nobles and commoners, as well as four guilds which are summarised above.
You can also see a plan of their fortress. Initially it was supposed to be giant, but due to performance limitations I decided to go with something small and comfy. It's mainly a medieval era inspired fort, but since Dwarves are polytheists I had to use my imagination to fit in some gaps.
The regular chapel is therefore replaced by a temple, which is built upon the scenographic ritual (once again took ancient Greeks as example) interior - you'll see for yourselves.
I also tried to lay down some perspective hierarchy - between the main gate and the keep, as well as how the temple is positioned in the compound. The proportion between towers, walls and other buildings. I figured it would be a way to detach myself from the random/function dominated/labyrinthic layout of Christian medieval fortresses, and add that spark of different/original while keeping the medieval aesthetic (again, you'll see for yourselves when the map is ready).
I'm thinking if I should manage the courtyard like a plaza but the thing is with all the snow around, it would be impractical for Dwarves to have a huge space to idle about in the centre.
Anyway, enjoy!
