Mixing Nitrous and Rockets is DANGEROUS... But Really FUN!

Thanks, Joaquin,

Here is a link to an interesting paper you could read that I think will set you up in the right direction: https://digitalcommons.calpoly.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1024&context=aerosp

Then, in my (future) application of a hybrid of this type, I'm trying to visualize where I would inject the NOS? Would I incorporate a fitting into the front (opposite to the nozzle) end of the solid propellant motor and align the spray with the core?

Do you know how much NOS do you need for your the fuel in your engine to burn completely? I think that will drive the size of the tank you need. There are some NOS kits for motorcycles that might be of use. Do a search for "nos sneaky pete" ;)

I am searching for a lightweight nitrous bottle for use in an experimental model rocket; this has to be slim and as lightweight as possible and only has to last for a few or perhaps several seconds. Can anyone direct me to a site where I may find such an animal?

"Lets do nitrous, or I should say, lets talk about nitrous" got a chuckle out of me. Well played.

Guys! You can’t introduce a rocket in Act One and then not fire the rocket in Act Three. We have to wait for the next video to see the hybrid? Really? Not that the BBQ grill was “bad” but I’ve seen a redneck dump kerosene on a hibachi before! Even the redneck was familiar with the principle of Chekhov’s gun! Please tell me the next video is coming out soon. Please! Also I just remembered: you guys have pressurized hydrogen! I’d be super curious to see a stoichiometric mix of nitrous and H2. I wonder if the nitrogen bonds in NOS breakup under combustion and contribute to the “bang,” as it were.

Tis the anniversary of the Trinity test. Good timing for this sort of thing.
