This is a sketch I made of Rhaegar Targaryen after the second episode of season 8, when we finally heard Jenny's song. My opinion of season 8 is not kind, but I will say that for everything I disliked, I really did love Jenny's song.

I was inspired to draw this because the version of Jenny's song that David and Dan wrote for Game of Thrones did remind me of Rhaegar. Whether that was intentional on their part (probably wasn't, considering how much thought was put into the rest of the season) I couldn't help but notice that in the song Jenny's love and sorrow for the Halls she is dancing in (which could be Oldstones but hasn't been confirmed; I assumed Jenny might have survived Summerhall as well and returned to the source of her sorrow to dance with her ghosts??) is very similar to Rhaegar's own attachment to Summerhall despite the tragedy that befell there, and that it was one of the only places he felt peace.

I don't know if I will ever finish this drawing, because at the time I created it I believed that Jenny's song in the show might play a larger part in the story, but was sorely disappointed. I absolutely believe her song is going to be an extreme red herring in the books but I also believe that the song in the books will not be the same as the one in the show. The dilemma I have is that I can't take the song seriously since it was not written by George. Maybe when we finally get to hear/read his version I will pick this drawing back up again.

Until then for what it's worth, here is a sketch of a sad prince, high in the halls of the kings who are gone. And he never wanted to leave.
