Speed Painting 10 cool Models in 5 Hours - How to paint the Untamed Beast - Warcry 01

Comments

Marco, thanks for the feedback. The inks are sprayed in thin layers over Vallejo Black Primer (Acrylic Polyurethane) which I always apply to my models using an airbrush. The primer then was zenithal highlighted with white ink. I waited 48 hrs after the primer and zenithal highlighting to apply (via airbrush) inks to undercoats my skin tones. I then waited waited 24 hours to do my final highlights, shadows, and details with a brush. The models are plastic, and were washed with soap and water before I started. No GW washes, just some Scale Color, vallejo model color, and a few of the base undertone inks mix together painted over the top for shading / highlights. In the past I've added a drop or two of Liquitex matte medium into my airbrush to improve adhesion of my inks, but seeing your videos I figured I'd try pure inks + vallejo airbrush thinner. It might just be a freak occurrence. I'll see about hitting it with a few layers of varnish.

Olaf Anderson

Hello Olaf, thanks a million! We have three main suspects here. Usually this is a problem caused by the paint you have under the inks and the grip it can offer; what kind of primer do you use? Alternatively it can be a problem caused by the thickness of the inks layer. Last possibility: do you used GW washes over inks? Sadly they have inside a medium and other components that are able to reactivate inks even when they are almost completely dry! Usually I use varnish only to change the finish of a surface; inks have a slower drying time in the microscopic level but don't need any extra protection
