Unholy Arts Version 0.2.4 Maaterasu Update Changelog

Today's update brings a new story scene and a few new mechanics, such as character drives and desire/willpower checks to be able to reject proposals during socialization. I will further comment on the design behind character drives and some optimization work that the code requires later at an itch.io's devlog post.

I should also mention that I'm on a new treatment against migraines, so I'm sorry If I'm not being as productive as I feel I otherwise could.

Story Events
- Added story event after day 15. You may get extra options if you pass checks for charisma, empathy, intelligence or perception. Some dialogue may change if you have improved your relationship with Maaterasu enough.

Game mechanics
- The game will now track how many times each character has had sex in a day, and how many days they've been without sex.
- Generic sex scenes will now have effects for involved characters.
- Specific conversation topics that make offers to the target will now:
* Have a social drive cost (by default, 10).
* Calculate the target's desire to accept the offer (by default, 0).
* Have a willpower cost to reject the offer on the target (by default, desire - 20, with a minimum of 0).
- Characters without enough willpower to reject offers will reluctantly accept, but will gain small amounts of enmity and rivalry.
- Generic sex scenes that only involve NPCs will now actually happen. Previously, there were only events that kept them busy.

Generic Sex Scene effects
* If the character had the lead in a fixed lead scene, they will gain romance, sexual tension and dominance towards their partners. If the character had at least one orgasm, they will gain extra sexual tension, and their pleasure and domination drives will grow.
* If the character didn't have the lead in a fixed lead scene, and had at least an orgasm, they will gain romance, sexual tension and submission towards the leading character, and gain pleasure drive points; if they didn't have at least an orgasm, they will gain enmity and submission and lose sexual tension with the leading character, and lose pleasure drive points. If the character lost willpower or energy, they will also gain extra submission.
* If the character orgasmed in a dynamic lead scene, they gain romance and sexual tension, and lose enmity with all involved characters, and gain love, pleasure and cooperation drive points. Relation changes are reduced if there are more than 2 involved characters in the scene.
* If the character didn't orgasm in a dynamic lead scene, they lose romance and sexual tension, and gains enmity with all involved characters, and gain domination drive points and lose love, pleasure and cooperation drive points.
* Characters who lose energy or willpower in dynamic lead scenes with only two characters, will gain extra submission towards their partners.
* All effects will be multiplied by: ( 3 + [Days that the character has passed without sex] ) / ( 3 + [Number of times the character has had sex today * 3] )
- Challenge and assault scenes will now have effects on the involved characters' drives:
* If the aggressor wins, they will gain domination and ambition drive points.
* If the aggressor loses, they will gain self-improvement and lose domination and ambition drive points.
* If the defender wins, they will gain domination and ambition drive points.
* If the defender loses, they will gain self-improvement drive points.
* If the winning team had members that participated in the fight that do not share a submissive or dominant relationship with the team's leader, all members will gain cooperation drive points.
* If the dominant character of a special relationship loses a liberation challenge, they will lose ambition and domination and gain self-improvement drive points.
* If the submissive character of a special relationship loses a liberation challenge, they will lose ambition and gain self-improvement drive points.

New combat actions
- Lightning darts: Single target battle action. The actor casts lightning projectiles against their target, dealing lust, energy, willpower and control damage. Costs 3 willpower. Maaterasu knows this action at the start of the game. Damage scales with actor's intelligence and will, and is reduced scaling with target's will.

New social interactions
- Telephatic connection: The actor creates a telephatic link with their target, allowing a more direct contact with each other's feelings. Raises intimate mood, and friendship and romance in relationships. Diminishes anger. Effects scale with actor's will, intelligence and empathy. Maaterasu will learn this interaction during the new story event.

Specific conversation topics
- NPCs may now be more or less likely to accept sex offers depending on how much sex they've had lately and their drives.
- NPCs may now be more or less likely to accept special relationship offers depending on their drives.
- When asking another character to become your servant, if you pass a check taking into account romance, sexual tension, enmity and rivalry, the target's drives for love and pleasure will make them more likely to accept.
- Desire calculation on offers to have sex will take into account: the target's mood, the target's relation with the actor, the actor's charisma, the target's will, how many days the target has gone without sex, how many sex scenes has the target had today.
- Desire calculation on offers to initiate special relationships will take into account: mood, relations, and overall stats of both actor and target.
- Sex offers will cost 10 social drive. Relationship offers will cost 25 social drive.
- When an offer of submissive sex is rejected, the offering character will gain rivalry and enmity. When accepted, the offering character will gain submission.
- Added "Growth" factor to response calculation in generic sex offers. Growth will make NPCs more likely to reject sex as they grow stronger. This is intended to make getting sex with a given character slightly harder unless you've been building relationships (romance, sexual tension, etc.).

Balance
- Increased the chance of receiving the "Ask about values" social interaction.
- Nerfed Maaterasu's physical resistance from 20 to 10 and magic strength from 20 to 10.
- Increased the stats gain of the combat action "Cat Aspect".
- Increased the energy cost of the combat action "Scratch" from 1 to 3.
- Halved the willpower damage of the sex scene action "Hypnotic Glance".
- Adjusted the formula to calculate character drives' levels.
- Increased the importance of self-improvement to make a NPC decide it's time to train.

Conversation AI balance
- The chance of NPCs requesting or demanding sex will now decrease as they participate in sex scenes during that day, and increase as the NPC spends more days without having sex.
- When making offers to NPCs, they will now consider the willpower cost it takes them to reject them.

AI Behavior
- Increased weight of character drives in deciding their map goals.
- NPCs with higher pleasure drive are now more likely to target themselves in generic sex scenes, NPCs with higher love drive are now more likely to target other characters.
- NPCs more likely to initiate socialization as they go more days without sex, by a factor that gets multiplied by their pleasure drive. This effect is more pronounced when deciding to initiate socialization with characters they're dominating.

Code Logic
- Prompts to player will now contain information about who sent the prompt.

Fixes
- Fixed error that would prevent ending scene scripts from being executed if the player didn't participate in the scene.
- Fixed error in one of the descriptions of the sex action "Push dick back".
- Fixed a minor script error in the story event "Staying Hydrated".
- Fixed script at the start of the story event "Gifts For Nature" to automatically show the right bar.
- Added check to prevent an error related to NPCs apparently trying to study non-existing scrolls from freezing the game while I find the reason behind the error.
- If the player was prompted by a NPC that is now following someone, the prompt will be deleted. This should prevent the player from following a character A that started following a character B.
- Fixed the formatting of the header in a few early story events.

Memory optimization
This is part of a long work in progress to adjust some inefficient code to Twine's limitations. More information in the new devlog post.
- The following objects have been moved to setup: baseStats, battleDemandsDB, creditsGoddessEnthusiast, creditsPassionTemplePreacher.

Please tell me which version you're playing, how long you are into the game, and when does the error happen. A save file would also be helpful.

i keep getting bad reads shomthing about cheritykey or shomthing idk but it makes it so i cant play any idea why that happens?
