Question for y'all~

I'm slowly trying to return to having a presence online, but man it's really daunting after being in hermit mode for so long. Feel so out of touch, pls help xD I'm hoping you might share your thoughts on like, should I still post stuff to deviantart or twitter or instagram or somewhere else?

I posted for the first time in a while on dA and yo it's so different. @o@ (baked in adoptables and ai art up the wazoo, wowie) I'll also try to get back onto the group discord soon it's just really scary still ;; Baby steps fkdjgh.

Any thoughts are appreciated! ♥

My only social media is Twitter and The Hive, The Hive is way more artist friendly than Twitter but I would follow you on either one you chose. I hardly ever go check out DeviantArt anymore, ai mostly just go to keep my account active for Certain CS that require it.

this is a really great suggestion! <3

no, I didn't move to another platform -- there's nothing out there really that's like old dA... like blankshi said, though, a lot of people have migrated to Toyhou.se, which is useful for posting art and stuff (not as good as dA was, but it's something...) my only concern with Toyhou.se is that it's in permanent beta it seems, and that makes me a little nervous about hosting things there, you know?

That's not a bad idea! ♥

DA is a bit dead because of the Eclipse thing, and also because they are pro AI and you have to mark your works as 'not usable by AI' (I believe DA's own AI thing has scraped the site and used our art already anyway, which sucks). There was a bit of a mass departure from there a few months ago. Twitter has been going through some stuff but I still enjoy posting there, and also Inkblot is a great new art site right now!

DA is a different beast now. It's got no resemblance to the site I once signed up for. As people mention here... AI is absolutely rampant on DA to the point you have to squint at everything. It's also a bit of a ghost town; I can't find active arpgs, as most moved out of there when eclipse effed them over. I wish there was an equivalent site to old DA - here is holding out hope. I hope someone will take the niche since I feel it's open.

If this helps, you can remove AI art from showing up in the browsing page of DA: https://www.deviantart.com/stop-ai-replace/journal/How-to-block-any-AI-generated-art-932666534 It's been pretty successful for other people too. My sister and hubs are mostly on Instagram, Twitter has always seemed kinda aggressive to me though. I like the idea that was mentioned of having a chill thread in discord you can post any art things to share which can only be emoted on to keep things easier for you.

I second this!!!

I left dA after they decided AI was a good idea and honestly it's probably best to abandon it. Toyhouse is a much better platform to sell adoptables tbh. Twitter is ok but you have to post a lot to please the algorithm, same with instagram (and insta is riddled with art theft...) honestly Toyhouse and Discord are probably your best bets for posting things! at least if you plan to sell adoptables again >w< post wherever you feel comfortable though!!

It’s nice to see you making an appearance again! I agree that instagram and twitter are where most artists post now and days. Unfortunately, there really hasn’t been a go to dedicated art site like DA in awhile. :( I post my art on artfol. It’s a cute little app. But it’s very quiet! Which I kind of like TBH. >w<;;

Tbh I think Twitter and Instagram are the best options for getting art across to an audience, there are lots of artists I follow on Twitter and Instagram! I moved to those platforms specifically for them because they left DA

Maybe we could have a little channel in the discord for everyone to admire new stuff you want to share? Might be less pressure than doing Official Posts and then people can shower your art with cute server emotes :D

A lot of people have moved to Toyhou.se ^^

DA is rifled with AI adopts / AI art unfortunately, so a lot of people left or deactivated. I havent been on twitter for a bit but when I was there it was a prrtty good spot for art.

If you don't mind me asking, did you move to another platform after leaving dA? I know a lot of people were unhappy with the direction the site took so I'm curious where everyone ended up.

dA is very different now -- I left when they went all-in on AI. that said, post wherever and whenever you feel comfortable posting! I know it's really scary, so take your time and post when you can <3
