Journalist wanted for art book project | $200

I’m working on an art book / magazine that focuses on the small, everyday community threads in our everyday life. For one of the main stories, I’m looking to bring on a journalist or writer who has some background (or interest) in Asian American spaces, cultural history, or sociology. Ideally someone who speaks Mandarin, since this will involve talking to people on-site. Rate is $200 flat.
The story centers around ping pong and its role in Asian and Asian American community spaces. I want to explore things like:
How Ping Pong ended up becoming a staple in certain spaces
Why these active rooms feel so comforting and socially open
How shared hobbies can create connection even when people don’t speak the same language
Simple profiles on 3 regular players (name, age, profession, where they’re from, etc.)
This is for an art book, so the tone is more observational and human than academic. I’m looking for someone who’s good at talking to people, picking up on little details, and weaving together culture + personal stories in an approachable way.
