Meet The Controversial Pronatalist Couple (Interview with Malcolm & Simone Collins)

Meet The Controversial Pronatalist Couple (Interview with Malcolm & Simone Collins)

Comments

@RhodiumMaiden - Each of the "races" of the world have ALWAYS been a "minority". European peoples have long sold themselves the myth over their expansionist colonial era that they EVER were the "majority" race. Whether their populations eventually wither away is subject to debate, as fertility rates among ALL "races" are steadily declining -- maybe at the moment at different rates. This "Great Replacement" idea seems just thinly veiled "racist" rhetoric designed to "Make Europeans [feel] Great Again". That time has likely passed, but the issue remains HIGHLY politicized, just as so many others, like climate change, sex, gender and others, so it is difficult to distill fact from fiction with any high degree of precision.

Joseph Omega

Hey, girl, me too

Elliott Morrow

💯

RhodiumMaiden

Simone is very deluded about the Great Replacement & Whites are the global minority so we are most at risk as a race. Also they’re wrong about climate change as per the mainstream narrative. See here to learn more: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHSoxioQtwZcqdt3LK6d66tMreI4gqIC-&si=1QdAKvfWOU22kBSN Individualism is a losing strategy. Only religious collectivism can survive long term. Not that individualism is bad (I myself greatly value many aspects of individualism) but runaway individualism dies out. Ahh, this gets explained. Genital mutilation of minors is NEVER okay. What about when we get the next inevitable solar flare a la Carrington Event? The Amish will flourish vs everyone else then. And AI call along with everything else. Technological will be fried becoming more technologically dependent is not wise. Happiness doesn’t work as an end goal. It’s a side effect of end goals like having children & a strong community. But I agree with AG that I love both my primal & my cognitive aspects. Great discussion, absolutely fascinating couple and I have subscribed to them. It’s rare for me to find content creators or really anyone whom I genuinely respect, admire and enjoy while also disagreeing with them on numerous key points. So I appreciate the opportunity to further refine my thinking.

RhodiumMaiden

They never claimed that. Doesn’t make these demographic problems due to low & falling birth rates any less real.

RhodiumMaiden

Disagree but not an economist.

RhodiumMaiden

Hi

Chuck O

Okay, they completely lost me when they started saying White groups are the least at risk lol. Is that why all the non-white groups in America(Asians, Hispanics, Blacks) are increasing in population every year by up to 24%, and the only group that not only isn't growing by even 1% (as of 2020 data) but is actually seeing a negative population growth is European Americans? Is that why most demographers agree that white populations within the next 50 years will be absolute minorities in all Western countries?

Greg

The sad part in the existence and need of diversity is that they stem from corrupted roles of institutions. Take school for example; where it should be the place for AAALLL knowledge, unbiased towards race, region, nation, age, credibility and so on. I mean, even the unbelievable fairy tales have a purpose in the education of children. Unfortunately, schools, churches, businesses, governments and so on, will grow in a twisted manner every time they grow in size, mainly because of mistakenly attributed reason for success as being their preferential values over other succumbed cultures, which is sad and had made the Great Library of Alexandria to burn .... or the now cherished Chinese legacy writings to be lost and forgotten.

Ungureanu

Another thing that I would like to add here is in regards to "We should have the right to raise our children in our culture ...". What about the right of the child to experience other cultures or avoid being the scarred by a twisted, perverted culture? As parents you may have the right to choose for your children, but you also have the responsibility to raise them as functional human beings in the current society. Would you agree that there should be a mediator role here? Maybe the school?

Ungureanu

Alexander, I think that when you said that happiness should be the marker of success for a culture, you presented directly the ultimate, highest state of being for humans to attain. While the Collins couple know that happiness is the ultimate goal, practically it is impossible to always be happy and that most of the times us humans achieve happiness through pursuit, just like you previously said that man and woman want to exhibit their strongest feats and skills to feel fulfilled (which is happiness for most humans). As my personal conclusion, happiness should be the ideal goal of all the cultures, but because ideal is perfection (unattainable, unsustainable) diversity's goal here is to try in parallel what sets of cultural values will lead humans to attainable goals closer and closer to happiness.

Ungureanu

This is great stuff. Thank you.

@Eric Linden - What an unexpected GEM! 😅

Joseph Omega

Google the Japanese rural property market for a laugh. They'll maybe pay you to occupy an existing home.

Eric Linden

The fear expressed is INDEED that the rate of increase is in decline, even though the world's population is not declining. The analogy they cite is the "climate crisis", where, though the overall average global temperature may not be increasing fast enough to the casual observer to warrant immediate panic, unless something is done now, there may approach a tipping point (in the case of global warming, but a crest in the case of birth rate decline) past which MOMENTUM alone precipitates the existential crisis, regardless of our efforts to reverse the effects. True or not, the old "slow boil of the frog" phenomenon is a REAL one.

Joseph Omega

@Eric Linden - I just successfully installed the Chrome extension: It works! https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/video-speed-controller/nffaoalbilbmmfgbnbgppjihopabppdk I can't vouch for it, but there is the BSPlayer app from the Google Play Store at: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bsplayer.bspandroid.free

Joseph Omega

@Alisha - Another word: China.

Joseph Omega

@Eric Linden - One word: Japan.

Joseph Omega

@Hyperion - Well played Hoomarn! 👽

Joseph Omega

Tbh it isn’t the middle classes, it is the lower classes that struggle the most, middle class people can get “gifts” from other well off family members and usually can get jobs as their family members have good jobs and can put a word in for them. In Scotland the nepotism is crazy and if you have no connections then you don’t have much of a chance to climb unless you are really skilled or lucky. It would be interesting to see what a country with a declining population would be like with their housing though

Alisha

With population growing, not due to people having babies, but because of rapid uncontrolled immigration from the third world, the middle class continues to be priced out of home ownership. It would be interesting to see, in places where population is already falling, if there is any housing crisis.

Eric Linden

I think a lot of people would have kids more in the UK but the housing crisis here is hopeless, people with enough money still have to live with parents because the cost of a house is crazy, there are barely any rentals and if there is any they are houseshares or completely unaffordable and are neglected. 25 years ago, my mum and dad bought a good two bedroom flat with no deposit and my mum had no job and my dad has a very low paid apprenticeship. Fix the housing crisis.

Alisha

Yes, I am a big believer in leading by example.

Mark Bryski

For all life, extinction is very real and near. Humanity is not exempt, regardless of our cultural or technological advancements. From a cosmic perspective, we are but microbes on a spec of dust, suspended on a sunbeam; we are insignificant cosmically, yet significant in our own estimation. We can be wiped out as quickly as we have come into being, in the cosmic timeline of this universe. Human life has always been lived on the edge of a precipice, and human culture has always had to exist under the shadow of something infinitely more important than itself. We as a species do not need more pressures to extinguish our existence, much less from ourselves, as there are already plenty with which to begin. Therefore, I'm of the opinion that those who want humanity to go extinct should lead by example, starting with themselves.

Hyperion

Here is an interesting podcast from them on Feminism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6zWK9PRuRs titled: "Feminists Won the Culture War but Lost At Life". They appear to be a FASCINATING couple -- Malcome appears a trifle eccentric, but I just subscribed to their channel.

Joseph Omega

When it comes to hitting children, I hope Malcolm is open minded enough to realize he has an opportunity to learn more about evidence base approaches to parenting. In fact, if he chooses to learn more about these approaches, it will probably address any child protection concerns the child protection authorities may have over the incident with his son.

Mark Bryski

The Collins' also have some interesting views on how the fertility collapse might impact Africa by 2100 -- see this video where they discuss a recent study by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQxlKKD3-AE

Joseph Omega

Yeah, but I'm sure that one of the KEY aspects contributing to that stability of successful large families were the "extended family" dynamic, as "mobility" (to the modern extent) was not yet invented. Indeed, my guess is it probably DOES "take a village", even if it is one of your own creation. I remember QUITE vividly how my older boy rose to the challenge of teaching, entertaining and protecting his younger sibling.

Joseph Omega

A bit of basic maths - The world's population is NOT declining. The rate of increase may be in decline. The major problem with informed debate is a technically illiterate, but highly vocal majority of the population who simply cannot use rational reasoning due to their lack of technical (mathematical and statistical) skills. Western education and social norms are failing us hugely. The vast majority of our population is afraid of (or stigmatized for referring to or using) primary school level maths. Nature simply doesn't care about your opinions - she will cull any population explosion through the natural process of 'population dynamics' where a species that outruns its resource base will fall off a population cliff. :)

Jon Wilkinson

Maybe. But the other children take on some of the parenting role. It's really a different family dynamic we've forgotten with our small one or two child families. Talk to someone - if you can find someone - who grew up in a large but stable family like that. Ask them how the parents handled all those kids. I have. Including a grandparent and a great grandparent. It works!

Eric Linden

Happiness (like Feminism) is a luxury of the well fed. If society goes south, priorities will likely favor necessities over niceties.

Joseph Omega

I can certainly see that. Memes, like genes, evolve to benefit themselves, not their hosts.

Joseph Omega

Well, Simone says she wants to have upwards of 7 children. Unless there is some extended familial assistance anticipated, the probability of a "problem seed" will increase, as the opportunities for the individualized attention so necessary for an effective spank-free environment will decrease.

Joseph Omega

@Eric Linden - Didn't "Truth and Reconciliation" work?

Joseph Omega

Interesting explanation on the role of culture. I see culture as customs and traditions for the purpose of mating and raising families. In my opinion, we are now rising above culture to satisfy this purpose. When it comes to parenting children, parenting practices are advancing. Back in 2021, what was considered to be evidence based practices is now being shelved because of a new evidence based approach. I consider this to be leveling up from how I was raised as a child. When it comes to “mating”, I am amazed at the options now available to me because of the new mindset I have developed from the knowledge shared in Alexander’s videos. Again, I consider this to be leveling up from the courting/dating traditions that were passed on to me. Leveling up does have some consequences. It contributes to the breakdown of the cultural consensus. Also, it strains the bond to the past generation which can diminish their participation in raising a family. However, it creates an opportunity to build a new cultural consensus which is more effective and pluralistic. One that I prefer to pass on to my daughters.

Mark Bryski

I'm not sure sorry, never tried it on my phone

Alexander Grace

@Eric Linden - Fortunately, it seems as if Alexander may be coming around to some aspect of their philosophy.

Joseph Omega

Like many experts, they get the “problem” right. But that doesn’t mean they have the correct solution. Just like the red pill, women, dating, and relationships. So many experts get that problem right too. But I only go to people like AG for the good solutions.

Eric Linden

I agree with their assessment of South Africa, having lived there myself for a full year in the 1980s. The standard of living has taken a steep decline for all races since I was there. It is a scary and dangerous place now. Nothing has improved.

Eric Linden

You are correct- For not with. I should have said in a small number of cases. I disagree that it depends on the number of children you have. It depends on the child. And there is almost always another way, as both you and I can attest.

Eric Linden

@Pepito Sbezzeguti - Indeed! I think he did a GRAND job overall. VERY impressed -- he kept to his guns, challenged and asked the really tough questions and listened with patience, openness, respect and humility to the answers.

Joseph Omega

The video started with Alexander SOOO opposed to their concepts, then fighting his way to support his position, then grudgingly succumbing at the end to their inescapble validity, kicking and screaming (in an intellectually respectful way). His "Intellectual Humilty" was an inspirational marvel to behold. I laughed SO hard near the end when Alexander summarized (for I thought "He took the words right out of my mouth!"): "I imagine you might, do you look at me and where I'm coming from and think some variation of 'Oh bless him he's quite naive -- he has an unjustifiable optimism in human capacity and individualism that algorithms and technology are going to suck more humans than he is aware of into this vortex, and then we're going to be going to be fucked. That's why you need tribalistic thinking patterns that are at least more positively oriented (like what you're calling cultures), in order to safeguard against that. And that it's too Ivory Tower his version of individualism, to actually be a meaningful opposing force to the sheer efforts of that.'" They were SO gracious in their denial! But that was PRECISELY what I was thinking all through Alexander's earlier "rational objection" phase of the conversation: I was holding my head and saying "Oh Alex, Alex, Alex, you are SO much a product of your 'Western' upbringing with it's obsession with 'individualism' even at the expense of 'duty' and 'obligation'!" But my respect for him scaled up TREMENDOUSLY by the end, when he seemed to recognize the potential failings in his own implicit dogmatisms. Bravo! I hope he DOES get to visit the Collins' at their hideaway -- I think he'll LOVE it: I live not too far away myself (in Maryland), and that area (close to "Dutch Country") is AMAZING for a nature lover.

Joseph Omega

@Eric Linden - By "with a small number of children" I presume you mean "FOR a small number of children", right? Meaning "in a small number of cases"? As opposed to those instances where a family HAS a small number of children -- because the guests implied that any need for any degree of "spanking" may be directly proportional to the number of children in the samily unit. If so, then I agree, as I personally felt little need to "spank" my small children myself (and I had two boys), but I DID speak firmly and very seriously to them, and, if needed, forcibly physically curtailed their abberant behavior and occasionally "pinched" them to get their attention. I also suspect that I was lucky, as they were never "problem" children--I've seen so many of THOSE, and they aren't pretty.

Joseph Omega

I think these guys don´t know that much about economics to say these things. Yes its true that everything is made presuming there will be a population growth, but that is not a problem. I think because of AI the world will finaly be cornered and have to think about implementing the basic minimum income, this is because AI will make jobs desapear, replacing milions of office jobs. There are many books about it, this subject is actually kinda old, and it will work. It´s the next step in human qualifty of life, not everyone has to work to keep the world spining, we have to let technology do what its meant to do: save labor.

GUNSHIP

After starting to watch the video, I think you have a lot to learn from them when it comes to culture and society. Keep at it humbly!

Pepito Sbezzeguti

I am so glad you made this interview with Simone and Malcom, Alex.

Pepito Sbezzeguti

Most parents who spank their children do it out of emotion; usually anger. That is the problem with it. If spanking , it needs to be a planned consequence for a previously defined behavior. I never spanked or needed to spank any of my kids, but with a small number of children, it may be necessary.

Eric Linden

This brought to light a future issue I had never considered and I probably wouldn’t have if I didn’t see this, fascinating information, complex yet explained so well, great guests Alexander

Mauricio Alanis

Is that Chrome extension available on your phone, or just laptop and desktop?

Eric Linden

“Happiness” has only recently become so important due to feminism and the matriarchy. Previously ”fulfillment” was more important. My kids only occasionally make me happy, but they always leave me fulfilled. I’m sure there is an evolutionary psychology explanation for this.

Eric Linden

The term “pronatalist” has been captured by many and perverted, much like the term “ red pill.” This is a trend as old as language itself; taking a popular term, and using it to also mean something slightly different. The term becomes so broad and watered down, it can mean whatever you like or don’t like.

Eric Linden

I am half way through. Very fascinating. Simone just finished explaining how culture can be viewed as "software".

Mark Bryski

Great interview, great guests, and great message :)

Cezary Skoczek

Thought provoking, direct, and applicable. Thank you for continuing to be a beacon of hope and a starting point for future growth. Love you Alexander, planning on visiting Australia soon.

Kevin Pereira

You can for example hold reproduction, survival, and dedication/conviction above happiness as an ultimate value. Plenty of people that don't care if they are happy in the process or at the end of things.

Cezary Skoczek

:D Many thanks for this video. It was a type of content I waited for a long time here. I will probably comment as I go because you talk about a variety of interesting things. I disagree with the whole premise of individual vs culture. It is a different layer. If we take the analogy of ecosystem further you can still describe FX cats as having different furs, eyes, behaviors, and so on. And still, speak of them as a species and their collective traits. Hyper-individualism is a culture in itself. As long as you live in a society you are part of a culture. If you Alex want to ditch the concept of culture altogether then everybody has to live a solitary life in the wilds.

Cezary Skoczek

Subtle flex 💪. My yt experience is 1337 compared to yours 😋 naw just kidding, im glad to join you in your yt mount olympus. Thanks for the way finder✌️

Peter

I have a Chrome extension that lets me do 3x speed or more, should be easy to find and install

Alexander Grace

Sometimes you wish for a 3x speed on YT.
