The most outstanding quality of Goblin Brides is that it truly is a story. The goblin sex and relationship play isn’t a peripheral part of a larger story, or a subplot, or a passing outcome. It’s core to the game play. Goblin Brides is a visual novel that tells the tale of a party of adventurers - Yharnam the rogue, Morgana the sorceress, and Nax, the goblin - who run into a patch of bad luck. A last-minute request on Nax’s part can lead to sex between the trio, and that sex sparks off an extensive, intertwined relationship saga.
I don’t want to reveal the details, but suffice it to say that they’re rich and nuanced. There’s emotional complexity, backstory and world building to flesh out the raunchy content into a full narrative. And it’s all rendered in lovely, high-quality 3DCG.
Now’s a terrific time to join Yharnam and Nax on their travels. Patches has composed about seven tenths of the storyline, and the releases get more generous by the month. Once the entire tale is complete, a whole new story with connected characters is said to begin.
